Picked up my new 09 version Jungson JA-88D from the DHL depot.
Well ive gone from one extreme of the Bel Canto (class d, small, 5.5kgs) to another (class a, well sort of, HUGE, 30.5kgs)
First impressions are all good. The first thing my wife said was that it looks alot more expensive than it was. Arrived perfectly packed with heaps of high density foam all around it. Shipping weight was 36kgs so nearly 6kgs of boxing. I must say that this was my first experence of shopping os and online. Cattylink was very professional to deal with. They answered all my questions promptly and kept me informed of the progress of my order all the way. They sent me the tracking number for DHL after they dispatched it so i could keep an eye on it.
They do a 120 hour QA test before they dispatch it so there is less chance of it being D.O.A.
Have only had just a small chance to listen and im quite impressed. The bass is softer than the Bel canto , which i expected, but the mids are more alive and the vocals are better. Top end is similar although i think the Bel canto went a little higher, but the Jungson is still nice and smooth. I'm going on memory as i sold the Bel canto a couple of weeks ago to a fellow member. Considering the price difference between the two amps i don't feel like i've gone backwards at this stage. The fact the bass is'nt as strong suit my MA RS6's which can be a little boomy sometimes.
Early days yet and i will have a better listen over the week and report back. But for just over $1250 Aust dollars landed, im pretty happy.
