This is pretty long so bear with me. have had a belkin power console pf30 for about 6 months and it seemed to work fine. just the other day i got an anthem amp 2 se and hooked it up and all was well. then i swapped out the factory pc for a shuyata power cord and piff!! the belkin shut down. no lights on the front panel, nothing. the amp was plugged into the switched outlet part of the belkin. all of the switched outlets are dead. the non-switched, power on all the time outlets are fine. the breaker trip on the back is fine, no trip.

so, got on the line with grant at shunyata and he walked me through what probably happened which was the surge was too much for the belkin to handle because of the new pc. no problem, i can deal with that. he suggested going straight into the wall with the amp. but the amp is way too far away to do that and i really cant afford to buy a pc that is long enough. he also said just a straight power strip would also work, but he did not say whether a straight power strip means JUST the power, or power and surge protection or what. so then i thought i would get an extension cord, but i guess it would have to be a pretty heavy duty one?

lots of questions, not many answers. grant is way too busy to keep answering me, so i am turning to my last best hope, Obi-Wan Ke....oops, sorry about that :) the polk forum for answers.

thanks!

I heard Belkin has pretty good customer support. Have you tried contacting them for a possible replacement?

oh yeah, a replacement is on its way, but i dont want the same thing to happen again, hence the looking or options route :)

I don't know a lot about exotic power cables, but if it worked fine with the OEM perhaps it's just better to leave well enough alone. The PF30 does a good job at filtering, so is having the Shunyata really a necessity?

yeah, this is where there are huge debates on power cables, filtering, ac line noise ect...i got in touch with chris johnson who designed the amp and he told me there is no reason to have a conditioner, at least for the lightning strike/power surge reason, as the unit is more then protected. grant at shunyata had mentioned that most, if not all, "high end" manufacturers equipment is protected against such things.

so it boils down to whom to trust. :(

Well, I'll leave this in the hands of the Gurus starkiller. I just don't know enough about this. If you can't get a satisfactory answer, then I would suggest going back to the factory cable for use on the Belkin.

I tried a couple of aftermarket PC's on my Belkin UPS and all of them raised the noise floor. I would follow their advice and plug all your amps directly into the wall, and the rest of your components into the PF60.
