Just curious which model sounds better. Has anyone done a side by side. Any difference in value? What are they worth or better yet how much should I pay?

The later one tweeter design is said to be the best. Wouldn't pay more than $350 for a pair in good condition.

I was afraid of that, I guess I will pass on the two tweeter version and wait til I find the one tweeter version

$176 actually. I thought they were in Michigan not Texas. If I could have picked them up I would have bid them up higher. That is a good deal and well within the range I see these, but I usually see the one tweeter version. $150 to $300 is the most common. Let us know how they sound, see if he will ship the extra tweeters and mids he offered me when I thought I could pick them up.

Actually it was 91 bucks with 85 for S&H. I thought couldn't pass this one up.:D

91+85=176

I always include the entire cost unless I can pick it up locally.

That seems like a fair cost for those.
If your handy with tools and all you can modify them. You'll find a lot of information here on how to properly complete the project. Do some forum searches then ask away.

Yes, and yes. You can upgrade the tweets to RDO's, you can also change the the Caps to Sonicaps or other brands. Depends on your budget. I have an old pair of CRS's that are receiving a CRS+ crossover upgrade as we speak. I got the X-over on the 'bay for $22. Eventually I would like to get the RDO's and maybe do the TL mod.

I had an ebay problem when I was bidding at the very end; apparently ebay and cookies don't play too well all the time with Firefox for Xubuntu. My bid was $165 too...

Oh well: I'm getting a pair of SDA-1A's instead.

And to answer your question, the CRS+'s were considered superior, though a lot of reviewers preferred designs with dimensional tweeters (SDA-1, 1A, 2, CRS). IIRC the dimensional tweeter made female vocals (as well as higher-pitched instruments) sound artificially bright. Even with later primary-channel-only tweeters, there were odd problems with "beaming", especially apparent with the SRS 1 series (SRS, SRS 1.2TL). The fix was to move highest frequencies to a single tweeter; the upper middle iirc.

That is precisely the type of answer I was looking for.

Thanks

No problem. I've only ever heard the later SDA's (SRS 1.2TL's, CRS+'s) though I bought myself a pair of 1A's (with the dimensional tweeters). For the price, I'm sure you'll love your CRS's.

Congrats Bobsama on the new acquisition. Still waiting for my little piece of heaven to come along. For now I will see how the CRS's hold up. I am hoping they are every bit as good as I've heard SDA's are said to be.
If they are better than my Monitor 10's or RTA 15's then I think I scored a pretty good deal. :D
