All I can say is very, very wise choice. The ET's have a patent for a reason. I think they are a steal even new. Likely why they are hard to find used.

Thanks. I found those too... I'm not having any problems finding them new...
I need to find a pair used though... My SDA's are getting picked up on Saturday.. Which means I'll have money for new speakers. Saturday.. Really hope some pop up by then or shortly after...
I can't go very long without tunes or I go crazy....
These are supposed to be some CRAZY good speakers. Hope I can find some and thanks for looking for me..

Listen to a pair of Carver Amazings (AL-III); VERY similar...I've heard both, and the ET's are great, but they need a large room because the sweet spot is incredibly narrow. The further away from them (to a point) the better they sound.
Martin Logan electrostats have similar signature, also, but the $$$$....WHEW~

I think I have a fairly large room? 16x30...
So hopefully they'll work out if I find a pair..

I've been trying to dig up the guy that had the Carver Amazing Platinums if you're at all interested in having a listen to them with me.
I'll keep you posted if you like. :)

You will also need some powerful ampage to make them sing....they're current hogs...

The guy is picking up the speakers in an hour or two... So I'll have money to shop with.:)

Have you ever heard LFT8's?
I wouldn't buy something like that blindly.
Here's a pair of silly panels within driving distance: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrplan&1255277058&/Martin-Logan-Aeon-Electrostati

Thats the only way I can do it... And 99% of my speaker and equiptment purchases have been made this way....
I just try to do as much research as humanly possible before hand....
And since I buy everything used. I always recoup my money for the most part... If I lose a little I just look at it as ( Paying a little for Knowledge)...
If I was ever to buy new and there was no return policy... I would most defiantly do what ever I could to listen before I purchase....
So far I've had no regrets...
Have you read the reviews on the LFT8? I don't think I've seen a single one that was bad... And there extremely hard to find used... And when they do pop up they sell immeaditaly... So I have no fear purchasing blindly. I feel I could easily and quickly get my money back on them if I didn't like them...

Seriously, it's going to take a helluva lot of amp to make any of the speakers being discussed really sing. You got that covered?

Geez... That guy sure is proud of them.. For $300 more I could get a new pair... And it would be the current model. Not the very first version...
I sent him a offer but I doubt he'll take it....
Thanks for the heads up.

They are EXTREMELY placement sensitive. They take a fair bit of time to get right. They will love absolutely every inch they can get away from the back wall; like to be far apart and will require aggressive toe-in. Room treatment can really work wonders as well and contrary to what most say a qood quality sub will hugely enhance the experience, more so if you are coming from and are used to the low end of the SDA.
Serious amplification is a must have but once you get it all right they are truly magical what they can do.
I had budget of up to $ 5-6K and decided to get a pair of these as an “in between” speaker while I found what I was ultimately after. I through they would be fun to play with in the short term and was curious because of all the glowing reviews. Bottom line is that I still have them and have yet to find something preferable. And no; mine are not for sale. I am tempted to try out the bookshelf versions and one day the ET subwoofer would be an experience to be reckoned with.
