Pioneer Elite DV47Ai – $175 + shipping
Description:
I purchased this unit in June 2003 and thought it was going to be the last dvd player I owned...and it was. At the time this was a top of the line universal player that retailed for $900. It was Pioneer's best player and works phenomenally to this day. I used it for movies mostly and the occasional SACD and DVD-A.
Condition:
Well I have had this for 6 years and never once had a mechanical issue, its flawless. There are a few chinks in the armor though, mainly a couple light scratches on the top of the unit and some rub marks around the edges. I also could not find the original screws for the feet, and ended up stealing one superfluous one that held the lid down.
As you can see in the pics I also added some dynamat extreme for damping. The lid is covered with it to prevent ringing, and there is some sparsely applied inside the unit.
Terms:
This will be packaged well with the manual, remote and upgraded 14g power cord. Accepting Paypal (add 3%), money order, or personal check. I will only sell to a buyer with verifiable good feedback. I have feedback on Head-Fi (http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f12/gaara-256818/), Club Polk (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/itrader.php?u=65293&) and on Audiogon (http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fb.pl?user=Gaara&&&&). For sale in the US only.

Nah, i just wanted to make sure. :p I figured it would, you seem to take care of your gear based on what i've seen you post.
Trying to decide if this is worth upgrading to from my DV-50A. Main reason would be to get a black face. :o
GLWS either way. :)

Let's not forget it's i-link capability. Works with any of the Elite AVR's with an "i" in the model number. Up through the VSX-84txsi, I think.
I have one of these, obviously, and have used it as a hi-rez audio transport via i-link for years. Can't beat it for the price.

Thanks, I try. Only reason this thing has nicks and such is I have had it for so long, got my Pio back when I had JBL speakers and a entry level Yamaha Rcvr.

Good point. I-Link is handy if you can use it, all the high res formats over one cable. Sadly I-Link was one of the reasons I got the player, and I never ended up with a Pre that had it. My B&K was supposed to, and even has a space for it...but alas it never came to be.

This is really a great machine, I have owned one for six years myself and still use it, quite musical and a workhorse for those scratched rental DVD's, as Gaara says we all paid alot more for them.

Thanks RT1. Its a solid machine which has never let me down, spent $1k w/ warranty from Tweeter over 6 years ago. Crazy how time flies.

Just picked up a VSX-56TXi on the cheap this week... it would look so pretty with it! Unfortunately I have a beer budget right now, or I'd be swooping this up. (Settling for a DV-45a locally on Thurs)
Bump for a great looking and sounding player.

Thanks Dane. Seems like no one needs a solid DVD/CD/SACD/DVD-A player anymore.

I'm going to put mine up for sale to try to fund this. If either of my subs or the CDP sell, i'll take this thing, if for no other reason than it'll look better in my rack. :p
I can't believe this is still here, either....

That's a fact. I have the original DV-47A & paid $900+ for mine. I waited to jump in to the dvd market until they had a universal player & this was it. It's never failed to play any disc I have put into it.

Getting second thoughts now.... IS this thing "supposed" to sound better than my DV-50A? Which is apparently the same thing as a DV-563 i believe was the model number...

Yes. From a Home Theater Mag Review of the 563a "Yes, $250 is on the high end of low-end DVD players, but it's completely worth it. You get a solid progressive-scan DVD player with excellent interlaced performance and full DVD-Audio and SACD playback. If you have the money for one of the expensive combi players, go for it. There is certainly a bonus in audio and video performance."
I have no experience with the two but some forum posts say the 45a/47a/47ai are all superior to the 563a. There also seems to be issues w/ the 563a and some DVD-A discs. You also seem to get more adjustment options, especially with the video, on the Elite models.

Gotcha... i guess i should research the differences if any between the 563A and my DV-50A, because mine is an Elite Model. Thanks!

According to this thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=281094) over on AVS the 563A is the DV-50A, only difference are the word Elite on the faceplate of the DV-50A. A few other sites corroborate this.

Yep. Its kinda hard to justify buying a great universal player when it won't ever see anything but CDs.
