I found these at Midwest and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. They are available in 4 & 8 ohm versions and cost about the same as the RDOs do.

interesting! Looks to be about the same price to buy an old set of Monitor's, then take out the tweeter for your needs. That's a waste of a good speaker to do so, but it is what it is I suppose. Nice find GDB

Interesting. Wonder who is the OEM?

The same Chinese company that is building these for Polk.:p I wonder what the differences are between the two models??

Yeah I was wondering about these also, I have a pair of Reynolds Advance A+ Towers that have 2 peerless tweeters in each tower. Anyone have any experience with these?

I am going to order a pair for my Reynolds Advance A+ towers, I'll let you guys know what they are like, I see that you can get 4 Ohm and 8 Ohm, I need the 8 Ohms for the towers.

Madmike,
Please do post your findings and impressions of these! I couldn't beleive my eyes when I found them, almost too good to be true maybe. I do think that the silk fabric dome would have to give them a sound similar to the original Peerless tweets.

When I get them I will put the new pair in one tower and do a comparison to the originals, Then I'll let you guys know. As for the Peerless sound in original Polk speakers I can't say as I've heard any (the ones with the hole)

There was a mix up when I ordered these on August 22, they were never shipped but yet I was charged for them on my credit card. I now have this mess sorted out and tweeters should be here in the next week or so. I'll update you guys when I get them.

I just got my pair of tweeters today. They look very good, I tried one in my Reynolds Advance A+ speakers today, these speakers have 2 in each, tried the one new one with the old original and I can't tell any difference between the two. I got 2 of them just incase there was going to be any difference between the originals and the new ones, this way I could put one new and one original in each speaker. I will listen to these for some time so this tweeter can have a chance to break-in and I will get back to you guys.

Hey Mike, how did these Chinese replacements for Peerless tweeters work out?

That place is about 3 miles from me. I should point out as I have have several times before. I have spent dozens of hour researching the Peerless tweeter and can tell you that there are about 4 different Peerless tweeters made and used between 1977 and 1984. NONE of them sound the same. That does not count the replacemnt one that was made in Denmark until a few years ago when the tooling finally cracked and they said game over. Point is when people say "i need a Peerless "or " Peerless for sale you need to know what you have. Check the back for numbers 7514___ or 5514___. Gold or Silver, flat spots on the magnet housing of round, ect. I do not know what they copied but I could ask. keith

Hi Keith. Thanks for your interest. I don't need any just now; I was curious for future reference. My rebuilt Monitor 7As from 1979 have what I believe are Danish Peerless. One photo has a number that I can barely make out: 5514277A, I think. There are some photos in this thread, post #1:

Notice that one back plate is black steel, the other bright steel. Post #39 has a closeup front view.

Hi guys, between Christmas and New Years I had a chance to really listen to the replacement Tweeter in my Advance Speakers and I was very impressed with the sound. I have about 30 hours on these since refoaming the drivers and the Peerless replacement. IMO there is no difference between this new tweeter and the originals. The amp that I am using is a Carver M-500t and I gave these speakers a really good workout and the tweeter worked flawlessly. I will be upgrading the X-overs in these here in the near future seeing as the speakers are approaching 30 years old so I should probably upgrade them. The tweeters sound the same even by putting my ear to the original and the new one I can't tell the difference between the two. Hope this will help some people on deciding wheather to get these or not. They have two different ones 4 ohm and 8 ohm the ones that I purchased were the 8 ohm which is what were in the speakers originally. The black finish is a little shinier then the originals and the dome material seems a little thinner then the originals. It was great hearing these speakers again for the first time in 16 years.
