I got a Nad M3 used and one screw in it came loose probably due to shipping and it fell on top of a roll of transistors on the left channel pre amp board and whenever I turn the amp on, it goes into the protective mode.

I found out about the screw because after the problem occurred, I can hear something was loose inside the amp, so I open the cover and discovered the loose screw, turned out the the screw burned couple of resistors and transistor and probably a small cap around the area where the screw fell.

Since I'm not the first owner, I'm not protected by the warranty, I'm wondering anyone had any experience about NAD repair service and how expensive it can get for something like this? Worst case is for them to replace the left channel pre amp board, the seller is nice enough to let me return the amp to him, but I'd rather use the shipping money to pay for the repair since this is quite a heavy piece, and I really liked how it sounded when it worked.

Or if anyone know some 3rd party tech in NY queens and Long Island area who specialize in this type of work please sent me some pointers, thanks very much.

In my opinion, the best guys to repair NAD are right in your neck of the woods in Setauket. Visit http://www.stereorepair.net. I've sent several of my NAD components to them for upgrades. Excellent service and fair pricing.
