I have been satisfied with the SQ of Denon receivers for many years but after hanging out here for a while I am wondering how much better it could be. Since my receivers have pre-amp outs, I am considering adding an amp. It seems that folks like Adcom for a good bang for the buck amp so I have had my eye on them (535-II, 545-II).

I've seen some Carver amps (TFM-25) around. How would they compare to the Adcom?

What other amps should I consider in the $100 - $250 range (used)?

Thanks in advance,

Rotel,halfer,Acurus,Sansui,NAD,...All kinds of good deals on audiogon..Save some extra and get an adcom555II. What speakers do you have??
These seem like a good deal.>>http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1256839002

Even better but out of your price range. But still a great deal since they have been serviced.>>http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1257264164&/Adcom-GFA-565

I'd use it with my RTA11TLs.

A Carver would do you well as it was mine and a lot of peoples first high wattage amp. You can find some decent Parasound or B&K amps for that price that would be an improvement.
