Needed for my garage and patio set-up. I'm NOT interested in any of the RX-V series receivers. Remote is mandatory. Box, manual and accessories is preferred. Reasonable asking priced expected :D .

Thanks!

Well, wouldn't you know! I have a RX-495, if it helps. It doesn't have satellite radio, but otherwise, seems almost identical to the RX-497 you seek. I am the original owner since new, but it has been in storage for several years. I believe it to be in 9/10 condition (like new, really), with manual and pristine remote IIRC, but no box (flood damage on P Street, in Georgetown, darn those old rental units that they charge a fortune for! The receiver was not in the box at the time, nor even in the storage unit, for that matter.).

I have no idea what it's worth, so you can make me an offer that seems reasonable to you, but here's the catch: It came with a Yamaha CDC-555 carousel CDP. Why is that? Well, I don't really want to separate them, since the receiver remote also controls the CDP rather well ... sentimental reasons, really. Otherwise the CDP is in identical conition. It would be nice if these could find a deserving home. They have led a pampered existence until now (other than their boxes).

Let me know what you think! If you're interested, I'll get them out of storage and check their condition to ensure that it is, indeed, as stated above.

I have one of the 495's little brother. The almost identical RX-396, 50Wx50W and it does a great job at powering my RTi4.

Gents,

Thanks for your offers, but I already have an XM mini tuner that I want to use with one of these two XM ready stereo receivers. I'm also using this in conjuntion with a Yamaha CD changer so I want to stay with a Yamaha receiver to utilize the factory remote to control both units.

Kex - thanks again for the effort, but I already have a couple of Yamaha recievers (RX-770, RX-570, RX-385) in reserve that have pulled this duty, but unfortunatly aren't XM ready.

Keiko - Thanks for the eBay links. I've been eyeballing them, but I'm not confident buying gear from eBay'ers.

Hanx!

Makes loads of sense, which is why I mentioned I didn't want to separate mine, if possible.

Kex - thanks again for the effort, but I already have a couple of Yamaha recievers (RX-770, RX-570, RX-385) in reserve that have pulled this duty, but unfortunatly aren't XM ready. ...Yup, I suspected that this might be the case, which is why I mentioned it in my description.

FWIW, I took another look at those links from Mike. One sold for $250, excluding shipping. Was that you? The seller had 100% positive feedback, so it might have been a good bet, and using your credit card to fund a PayPal purchase does actually afford you some form of fraud protection (within limits), especially "not as described" disputes.

The other listing is BIN at a much lower price, and states that two are availble. Feedback is 99.9% positive. I checked the very few negative or neutral remarks in all of 2009 thus far, and they all seem like frivolous complaints to me (except one ... maybe). I would say this feedback compares very favorably to trusted eBay stores such as Harman Audio, or Polk Direct. Also, since this is a bulk seller, there is every chance a dispute that results in a refund request will be honored (since there will always be money in the seller's account for PayPal or your credit card issuer to retrieve). If it were me in your boots, I'd go for it, but there's no such thing as zero risk nonetheless.

Good luck!
