It was mid to late 70's, and I don't recall anything else that had white face plates at the time. I think there were a couple amplifier models and a couple preamps. I was thinking it was Pioneer or Yamaha, but can't find anything that jogs my memory. It might have had the word "esoteric" in the name.

Adcom offered some of their models in white but that was late 80's early 90's.

Ha! That's exactly what made me think of it. I was looking at some old Adcom brochures I have, and it has a pic of the white versions on the back.

The one I'm thinking of was definitely earlier though.

The only other I can think off hand is Crown.

From what I remember of that era, Pioneer and Yamaha both seemed fond of the brushed silver finishes for their face plates. Pioneer tended to use lots of toggle switches, and Yamaha used the wider/flatter paddle switches.

Its all kinda a smokey foggy haze.....:D

Didn't see it there but thanks for that link. Cool site to browse thru.

Hey by the way, how come there's no vintage "other stuff besides speakers" forum here?

Because Polk didn't make electronics back then;) If you want to get into serious vintage electronics chat, AudioKarma is your place.

I think that Hafler made some white-faced gear, possible as part of the Iris series, though it may have been late 80s?

Sansui!

Black metal, white faceplate. Sansui TU-9900 was a really nice tuner. They had some great gear! Google it for pic's!
