Anybody ever seen one on the street?
When I was in Philly last week, I snagged this:

My camera took forever to power up-but I saw it turn out in front of me and had Google all over it.
You have to look in the center of the pic. Not sure why the colors are off--the last two pics I uploaded to Photobucket did that. ???

Google street view in action. I always wondered how they did that. Very cool mmadden, thanks for the photo.

The coolest part is now you're probably part of the STreetview images for that road :)

Yeah if they were capturing. Street view is not done yet for the street I was on - not sure how long it takes for them to review and publish their pics. That would be cool

Streetview is nice in commercial areas so you can see ahead a place that you have to go an visit for business. However, I hate it for residential. I don't want my house on streetview. Google's streetview cars have also on more than one occasion driven down private roads that said "private property" all over the entrance, and driven right up to houses that are not visible from the main road.
I value my privacy and don't want this information out there. True that my house is visible from a public road. But it is on a dead end road so not many people come down the road. There is a difference between people seeing it in person in public, and everyone being able to see it with the ease of a computer.

I want to be outside with my gut hanging out watering my yard holding a beer when they drive by my house

If you value your privacy so much put up a privacy hedge or something to block the view of your house from the street. I don't really know why an image of your house is seen to be an invasion of privacy; what can people learn about you by knowing what your house looks like? If they know your address (which they need to know to find you on StreetView) they can find your house on a map, is the actual image of the house any different?
Well, I knew he lived on Birch St (I made that up, so if you actually live on Birch St I am officially a psychic), but now that I know his house is RED, I can REALLY stalk him.
