Sony PSX45 Turntable

Question about hooking up a PSX45 turntable. I am familiar with the old red/white cables but there is a third wire coming out from the turntable. What is this and where does it go?

It is probably a ground wire. Should be connected to the back of your pre/amp to a ground screw on the case. Necessary to prevent hum.
