Hey all,
My integrated amp uses two tubes for the preamp section it seems like now my amp wont turn on and the read out is not working on the front. Could it be the tubes are dead? This is my first tube amp so I am not sure what is going on.
Thanks for any help

The best way to know for sure is to swap them out with different tubes.

It would suck if it is not the tubes... I do hear something turning on but the readout wont light up and there is no sound

Very odd both tubes would just quit working. My guess is it's something else or something else happened first and took the tubes with it.

I just ordered sylvania tubes from ebay just as a test. I would hate to take this thing in the shop...Darn thing is made in Italy!

Could be a fuse blown too. You could inspect it to see if it looks blown. Sometimes this is easy to tell, but if you can't tell, pop in a new one to see if there is a difference.

Thanks for the responses, The fuse looks clean as a whistle.

Don't trust the "look" of the fuse. Try a new one. There are many other possibilities but you should rule that out as it is easy to do. I'm not hopeful that it's just the tubes. Something else is going on...

Had a similiar issue with my Logos. Probably not the tubes & is more than likely a bad resistor. The tech I brought it to said the resistors PL used were undervalued (don't remember if he said they were 3 watt and should be 5 watt) and prone to failure since they were operating at their limit all the time. Had him swap out some caps that he though were cheesy too (although overall he though it was a well designed unit). Cost was $300 and it not only sounds better but has worked flawlessly. If you are lucky it might just be a fuse. Keep in mind the fuse in the rear panel is just one of 5 fuses in the amp. Removing the top cover will expose the other 4 fuses (two for each channel). Give these a careful look if you haven't already.BTW those Sylvania's are ok, but there are some great tubes out there that will really make the Pathos sing. Check out Bio Audioworks as a resource. Good luck.

Wow thank you so much mimitan for not only helping out but also for registering here to help!

I had no idea there were more fuses, I shouldve guessed...I will give it a shot for sure.

I use El tubes made in the former Yugoslavia god knows what year. I have no desire to look any further than the Logos at this point.

So thanks again for your help,
Tom

I'll keep you updated
