Anyone else excited about this release? This cd sounds just like the AIC of the past. This is a welcome addition to my collection for sure.

On the cd William Duvall sounds great. To bad he sounds like crap live. One of the things I liked most about AIC was that Layne Staley's voice was awesome. The Unplugged dvd is one of my favorites to listen to. I listen to this a few times a month and never get tired of it.

Yep. That's exactly why i don't go to many live shows anymore. Been disappointed too many times. I'd prefer to live in my bubble thinking these guys are great. :D
I used to like the band Thursday. Then i saw them live. I've never seen less talent on stage in one place in my entire life.
He couldn't be worse than Chi from the Deftones live.
Agreed that AIC was a great band. I heard the new single though and was entirely unimpressed. I own everything Layne Staley ever recorded with them as well as the Mad Season CD. Good stuff.
Jerry should just do his own thing. He can sing well enough and is a good songwriter. I would much prefer that to this rehashed crap. I haven't heard the whole CD but if the single is any indication I won't be buying it. Never really intended to. AIC no longer exists.

Same thing happened to me with the Black Crowes. I liked their cd and what I heard on the radio, but I saw them live and actually walked out. I am not one for wasting money but I would have paid to leave if I could not have, lol.

The new song I must admit was only 'ok' for me when I first heard it. Now that I have listened to it quite a few times it has grown on me. Here is another song that is on the album. Don't get me wrong, the new singer can't hold a candle to Layne Staley but it's nice to have AIC back in some form or another. Overall the new cd is pretty good on its own merits. Now if you compare it to the old AIC, of couse there is no comparison.

There is a similar project called Temple of The Dog with Chris Cornell and various other notable Seattle rockers. I am a big fan of that scene. I am seeing Pearl Jam at ACL Festival in a week or so. One of my best friends works for them.

I forgot all about MAD SEASON... I sure hope I have that CD sitting around, I will be digging for it tonight. Temple of the Dog is great too, I will have to dig that out as well.
Some great music came out during that time..
Not like those Bose rockers KISS... :)
TOTD has two good songs IMO...and even then, the mastering doesn't compare to AIC Unplugged or Mad Season.

I tend to agree on both points. Having said that, I have lot of stuff that isn't audiophile earcandy that is worth having.
Don't forget Mother Love Bone either guys. :)

I agree. I have not heard any of the new stuff, but the band that was AIC is no more. The art will change with a different artist. I never liked any of Jerry's solo stuff.
I have no probelm with the new AIC, I just wish they now have a different band name.

I absolutely love Soundgarden. As for Chris Cornell's solo stuff, meh. That last thing he did was just pathetic.

I second that. The live versions of some of those songs are so good that I almost can't listen to the originals anymore. Great album.

Not released yet. Will be released on Sept. 29. I received mine from an acquaintance that works locally in the music industry.
For those that are interested, here is a link to win an autographed guitar from AIC. Good luck.

The Unplugged In Sweden cd is a bootleg. This album is also known as 'At the O-Bar'. I picked mine up from Plan 9 here in Richmond. This bootleg cd happened to be in one of his offical release cd cases. I had no idea what it was when I looked at it (cd-r) but at Plan 9 they have cd players where you can go up to the counter, give them the cd, and they will let you listen to it before you buy it. Even if you go to a site that is charging for the cd, no money goes to the artist since it is a fan made bootleg. Most of the sites you can buy it from only have .mp3 and a crappy bitrate of 192kbps. You may find one here or there on some of the music trade forums.
When it comes to bootlegs there is a 'gray' area concerning them. The performance is the property of the artist without a doubt. Most artist don't care if you trade the bootleg, as long as you do not sell it for profit. There are lots of artists that encourage bootlegging and some that don't want it done at all. From everything I have read concerning Chris Cornell and his shows, he could care less. That's my personal opinon after reading tons of forums trying to find out the answer.
I have seen people here on CP posting bootleg songs, so I will post this one time to see if it's acceptable. If not then MODS please delete the link. Anyone who reads this please chime in if you think this is not in good taste or is not permissable here. I will wait a little while before I post a link to my upload (plus it will take a few to upload anyway). Thanks.
Here is a link to a contest to see Chris Cornell live at the Hard Rock in Vegas.
THE PRIZE: The winner and his or her guest will receive round-trip airfare (in the form of 100,000 American Airlines Advantage Miles), VIP tickets to the Chris Cornell performance, a free one-year subscription to SPIN magazine, and a three-night stay in the new Paradise Tower at the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino! Winner and guest must be 21+ plus to win.

I got the ok to post this so here it is (open to change). I am limiting the # of d/l to 10 so if you want it you better hurry. Since everything I found on the net concerning this is 192 kbps, that is what I made the .mp3. Even at 192 kbps the sound is actually very good. I also limited the bitrate for a smaller d/l. The file is an .iso of the .mp3 I made. Enjoy.....at least the first 10 people anyway.

**If all goes well and nothing changes and more people want it I will use EAC and rip it proper. This is kinda a test to see if there is any interest.**

If the song your heard was A Looking in View a lot of the vocals in that song is Jerry and not William.

Could have been. I have no idea what the name of the song was, but it had a very repetitive chorus. Kinda lame. Whatever.
I'm not dissing anyone who likes it at all, I'm just saying that I don't. Jerry is good enough and should be doing his own thing. Calling this Alice In Chains just doesn't seem right.

Red vs Blue was one of my favourite things to watch a few years ago.
I might go through every episode ever made and laugh insanely over each one again lol
Im not too sure if there will be a new series.
Dont they have a forum?

I picked this up today and I'm finding that the more I listen to it the more I like it. I also had a few German beers and I think the couch is getting more comfortable.
The Cd is excellent. I'll tell you about a few really good songs I like a lot.
The cd starts out with "all secrets known" good song. I'm digging it the more I listen.
"Check my brain" was released before the cd and I really dig that song. It's a great song and probably one of the best ones on the cd. "Last of my Kind" has the new singer clearly and he is good as what he does but It's not lane. For some reason that bothers me. One of the weaker songs for me. It sounds like something "HE" must have written and wanted it one the cd. You hear AIC influence but it's in a different direction. You will understand once you listen. I'm die hard AIC fan so I might be a little more critical then most.
Next up is "Your Decision" at first I didn't like this cut. The chord progression is so over used. But the Vocials are very well done and in AIC style. More JERRY style but I like Jerry style. it's growing on me.
So then comes "A looking in View" For now I'm gonna say this song is my favorite if I had to pick one. I downloaded it before the cd and I absolutely love it. So damn good. The flow of the song just takes me. Not to mention my Mythos ST's rock the house with this song. The entire cd to be honestly but I reach for the remote when this song comes on and I want to push my walls. There are moments of "lane" for me. I can almost hear him singing along. God I miss him.
"when the sun rose" surprised me. When it first came on I was like ok what the hell is this. Then it came on again(2nd time around) and I felt like old Alice In Chains with a new song. My system not to mention sound incredible. I'm totally happy with my new speakers. I even did the complete NO NO for myself and ran Ext Stereo which is like 5 channel stereo wit other receivers . I can't believe the quality and synergy I have. I'm so impressed. NICE!!! but this isn't about my speakers, but as I sit here writing this , they surprise me and I gotta comment. Great song. More Lane moments , I can hear him singing this song and nailing it like he usually does. I must miss him more then I realize. This is the first AIC cd without him. Sucks he had to drug himself all up and die. *******.
"Acid Bubble" has a weird flow. But it fits on this cd and within the AIC realm. When yo hear it you know it's them but find yourself in new territory. It's kinda cool. Things change you know and you have to except it. Like it or not. Sorry I'm buzzing a little bit so forgive me I don't drink all that much nor post when I'm a little lit. So if this post is nuts , forgive me. I'm writing it as I listen for the 4th time tonight.
"Lesson learned" ( which I sometimes don't) is a Jerry sounding song. it's got that thing he does. It almost sounds solo. Like it would be on his new project piece. I hear "cut you in" in it. has that kind of feel with more smooth ness.
"Take her out" Ok where did this come from. I so far think it's the worse song on the cd. It's not bad but compared to others it comes up slightly weak. New Singer song maybe? Kinda boring. Maybe after a week in the truck , a few workouts and maybe a killer mountain bike ride , I might come around with it, for now , it's last.
"Private Hell". Nice flow nice feel. Something open about this song I really like it. The flow is so good. I want a glass of wine but my beer will do. Maybe tied for 1st place on this cd.
"Black gives way to Blue" Alright soft ending to a pretty dam good cd. I find it's going to be a long road of listening. I enjoy listening in the truck , on the bike path , working out or just sitting here on my couch. My wife just commented on this song , she really likes it. So do I. Fading out by design , I gotta read the words so I can figure out what the hell they are singing about. I like to listen a few times before I read. Get the flow , get the emotional feeling and connection I'm about to experience.
Well I'll wrap up , feel free to join in and talk about this wonderful cd. I'm happy I own it . Any AIC fan will. Lane is gone people , I hate it as much as anyone as he was one of my very favorite singers. He will be truly missed. This cd brings back all the feelings of loss like back when he passed. Sucks guys it really does but it's nice AIC held in there and are still giving to us fans.
Way to go guys and thanks.
Dan( Drunk Mantis)
It's not bad. Still doesn't recapture the old AIC, but it's closer than JC's solo work. And is it me, or is it a little bass heavy?

What song or songs? I didn't notice this. I was drinking the night I listened to it on my system. I usually ride around in my Truck or Work Truck listening.
I really like it. More I listen the more I like it. Some of the songs brings chills . Layne is gone but not forgotten.
Any of their non-acoustic sounding tracks seem a little bass heavy to me. Or maybe I'm just getting old.
