Extending speaker wire

I need to add 3' to the 16 gauge speaker wire for my rear LSIF\X's. I'm looking for advice on the best way to do this.

Should I use a crimp connection, or solder the wire and cover it with shrink tube, or just use wire nuts.......

I would solder and shrink wrap. splice connectors are so "iffy".

Agreed I would solder and shink tube the wires. Too much added resistance when you do it any other way.

I used the butt-on connectors on 4 of my Def Tech rears. Loooks professional and cannot hear a thing difference.

If you are worry so much about extra miniscule resistance, Monoprice has dirty cheap 16 gauge that you will be able to replace the whole runs.

As matter of fact, I have a roll of Monoprice 16 gauge which I have them cutt off in different length ( 10' /10'/10' and 25'/25'..) If you reside in the same city, you can have the whole roll for free since it sits in my closet taken up space.

I appreciate the offer, but these wires run inside the wall. I extended them by twisting the wires together and then soldered them, I covered the splice with a small peice of shrink tube, and it looks great.
