A pair of RT2000's (in fact, my originally owned and previously sold pair) fell back into my lap yesterday. I like their sound but they do lack in the mid range department where their older siblings (RT3000's) deliver. I contribute this to the fact that the 3000's have the additional 6.5" midrange driver and Polk does some tricky x-over stuff with that configuration.
I got to looking at my RT800's which I recently purchased and realized that I essentially have the 1 tweeter, 2 mid-range driver configuration there.
What I'm wondering is whether or not I can DIY an upgrade to the RT2000's and essentially replace the 1 tweeter, 1 mid-driver upper section with the 1 tweeter, 2 mid-driver part from the RT800's and acheive a better sound.
Thoughts?
