Well if we go that route I have to say these, excluding Pulp Fiction:
War - Full Metal Jacket
Drama - God Father, Brave Heart
Action - Die Hard? I'm drawing blank too many to pic from

Seriously though, for purely technical reasons, Titanic (1997) is my favorite. For the acting, pretty much anything with Sir Anthony Hopkins are tops on my list.

Just finished watching Iron Man on Blu-Ray disc after blowing the dust off of the case (haven't watched since last Spring). I really like this one for the story as well as the PQ/SQ. Some really great LFE in it. Star Wars, LOTR also rank at my top. I really like THe Dark Knight and WOTW too.

I never did get Pulp Fiction...although it's my econ teacher's favorite, also...
This one little Italian romantic comedy called La vita è bella, whose main actor received the 1998 Oscar for Best Actor.
Although The Dark Knight is very much up there...

I couldn't help but notice your top three favorite movies all deal with time travel.
As for me -
Edward Scissorhands, Pi, Spinal Tap, Rushmore and and Dead/Alive get the most play.

I don't know if a story set in a Nazi concentration camp can really be labeled a "romantic comedy."... Wow. I mean, I know it used comedy to lighten it up but still....
As for me, I'd have to go by genre, and even then picking just one film is impossible, but off the top of my head :
Classic / Romance - Casablanca
Suspense / Thriller - Rear Window
Drama - the Godfather
Comedy - Young Frankenstein
Action - V for Vendetta
I could probably choose two or three from each category though... way too much good stuff out there.

Since I don't have an 'all time' fav:
Hunt for Red October
Master and Commander
Aliens
LOTR Trilogy
Blade Runner
Black Hawk Down
Slap Shot
and a bunch of others. If I had to pick? I would be Master and Commander.

Excalibur.
I'm waiting for this to come out on Blu-ray.
If done properly - some of the cinematography would be jaw dropping gorgeous.
Love the Lady of the Lake scene where Merlin first gets the sword Excalibur.....
Wow, for a thread started by TF, trying to flog his gear, this has become interesting. I'm not sure I really have an ulitmate favorite, but these are the ones I keep coming back to as having a special impact for me. Each of them has something quite unique, that sets it apart from the crowd I.M.O.
- The Fifth Element.
- The Silence of the the Lambs, and sequels.
- Eyes Wide Shut (even if Tom Cruise barely carried it off, IMO).
- Swordfish.
- Pulp Fiction.
A lot of movies that I liked have already been mentioned, and it doesn't surprise me that they have been selected as an "ulitmate favorite of all time", even if I would not describe them as such.
- Star Wars, even though some mistakes were made.
- Star Trek.
- Back to The Future.
- Independence Day.
- Aliens.
- Titanic.
- Matrix.
- Lord of The Rings.
- Blade Runner.
Other movies that I like have been metioned, but I am surprised that they would be selected as an "ulitmate favorite of all time", with emphasis on "ultimate" and "of all time".
- Falling Down.
- Dances With Wolves.
- The Player.
- Excalibur.
Of course, there are others that I liked, but not that much, and still others that have been mentioned that I did not like at all. It obviously surprises me that anyone would consider these their "ultimate favorite of all time"!

Says the guy who has SWORDFISH (a movie I can't even imagine people LIKING, let alone saying is their favorite) and EYES WIDE SHUT (arguably Kubrick's worst movie) on his list of best all-time?

Says the guy who has SWORDFISH (a movie I can't even imagine people LIKING, let alone saying is their favorite) and EYES WIDE SHUT (arguably Kubrick's worst movie) on his list of best all-time?LOL! Well, if there's one thing this thread proves, other than the widespread attraction of Science Fiction in general, is that different people really like very different kinds of movies.
Actually, if you think of some potential "all time great" possibilities, like Citizen Kane, or Gone With the Wind, they probably won't get mentioned by most people just because they were in black and white, or exaggerated "old style" acting, or just lousy sound and special effects compared to modern movies ...
Gotta admit Kex, when I saw "Swordfish" and "Eyes Wide Shut" in your list i was puzzled. Those two movies are widely regarded as crap and I tend to agree.
Just goes to show... there is no accounting for personal taste. ;)
I also agree "Citizen Kane" is prolly my favorite classic film, it just isn't in heavy rotation.
LOTR trilogy gets more repeat action than almost anything else in my collection and I am dying to get the extended BD version.
Gotta admit Kex, when I saw "Swordfish" and "Eyes Wide Shut" in your list i was puzzled. ...Swordfish may be a personal quirk, that I just enjoyed at the time, but Eyes Wide Shut, according to wikipedia (!) is "considered a cult film". I agree, though, I am a bit odd myself, so maybe that explains some of my choices!

Although not a personal favorite, I think 'A Clockwork Orange' belongs somewhere on a top-ten list (though certainly not a single best). I don't expect many people to like it as its sort of designed NOT to be appealing and make you uncomfortable but I think it was brilliantly innovative nonetheless.
