View Full Version : Burning .ISO to DVD

I have a few movies that I ripped to my computer from DVD before I came back to school this fall. Now I want to watch some of them away from my computer. How can I burn the .ISO's onto a DVD such that they'll be playable in a regular DVD player?

Download a copy of DVD Decrypter, it's free and burns iso's no prob. I saw somewhere also that Nero has finally released a vanilla version that's free. It's more versatile, but DVD Decrypter is very stable. What I'd recommend is that if the DVD media you get is rated at 16x burning speed, go no higher than 8.
It's the recordable media that's tricky. Memorex? No matter what original manufacturer they get, Ridata, whoever, they're always the crappiest. Stay away from them.

Also, make sure you uncheck the delete after successful burn box in DVD Decrypter if you want to keep the image on your drive.

I usually use the same software to burn the iso as I used to make the iso... Never had any problems.

Do you still have it??

I used DVDFab to rip the DVD's, and I can't find anything in the program about burning.

Will DVD Decrypter convert the .ISO to a file format so a regular DVD player will then be able to play it?

And I researched DVD media a little bit before I bought any and ended up buying 100 TDK DVD+R's. I think I ended up with good stuff.

You can use Alcohol 120% or even Nero. It's what we use. I prefer Alcohol over Nero for ISO. As long as your DVDP can handle newer formats, like DivX and such, you won't have an issue with playing ISO. on it.
I think the PS3 can now play ISO as well.

Are you using the latest version of DVDFab? 6.0.2.2 is the one I have, and on the left the very last option under "DVD to DVD" is "Write Data" which writes an ISO to a DVD (as a video DVD).

I wasted two DVD's trying to get DVDFab to work; both attempts failed. I'm now burning the .ISO with Alcohol 120.

Thanks for the info, folks! Looks like I have a few more options to explore if Alcohol 120 doesn't work either, but I hope I don't have to go there.

I've used ConvertXtoDVD with no problems. Works on a POS work DVD as well.

Like I said works every time for me too. Like someone else mentioned, be sure to uncheck delete file after burning, unless you want it deleted.

All you guys raving about the greatness of Alcohol 120 (I agree, btw), do you PURCHASE the program or just keep using the trial version and wait for the timer when you start it up?

Some of the movies I burned are a little glitchy toward the end, but will play alright after a while. Does that sound like slowing down the write speed might fix that?

Just use convertxtodvd like Gmiller said. Converts basically anything, and gives you nice options as well. No need to slow down the write speed, I use the fastest and still works great.

The outer layers of the disc are many times the critical areas. If slowing down the burn speed does not help (most likely it won't), reduce the size of the movie below 4GB.

Anything under 4.7 will work with Convertxtodvd.

It's not the software you use, it's the burner and the media. Add in the DVD player you're playing and it's a big chance they all won't be compatible. Playing those DVD's from HTPC or streaming them into PS3 or similar device will have much better success rate.
