Hello Polk group, I originally posted this wrong. I put it on the the new forum area, so I am reposting this thread, so maybe you guys & gals will see it. Sorry, I'm a newbie here on posting.
Hello group,
I have a pair of RTi8's and a CSi5 up front. Plan on a pair of FXi3's and a DSW Pro 500 for sub. Would these the best match in anyone's experience to go with my RTi8 fronts and CSi5 center. I don't have any sidewall space in my theatre room, and only some upper wall space on the back wall. From what I've been reading and studying, the FXi3's are timbre matched for the RTi series. Also seems like I would be better served with the Pro 500 over the Pro 400 as the 8" might be a little inadequate. I'm not a huge bass man so I just want some quality bass with my system. I certainly am thinking that I wouldn't have to step up to the Pro 600. (Will the DSW Pro series match with the RTi speakers? Or don't you have to worry about matching with the sub?) My family room is pretty much open with hardwood floors and standard size family room, 14' x 20'. I have a NAD T747 on order and my front are just waiting for some power. Needless to say I'm excited and can't wait to hear sound other than my TV speakers. Appreciate any of your knowledge and experience. Thanks.

The first thing to ask is what is your budget?
You choice of the FXi3 is fine if your budget is limited.
The FXi5 is even better if you have the budget and space.
Since your room is open, have you considered floorstanding RTi8 speakers for surrounds?
My personal choice would be to use RTiA9's or RTi12's with the CSi5 up front with use the RTi8's as side surrounds.

The subwoofer is really independent on the speaker system, however you want to match similar equipment performance and quality as the rest of your system.

The DSW500 is a definite improvement over the DSW400.
Your room isn't that small and being open, I would still recommend the DSW600.
I have the DSW600 and have been very pleased with its HT performance.

It has a remote volume control so you an easily adjust it.
You can always turn the unit down, but you can't ever turn it up past max.
The DSW600 would not be overkill.

I never even considered the FXi5. Never thought about it. Thanks for that tip. Yeah, my budget is kinda low for the rest of my system. I'm retired so I'm kinda doing this piece or two at a time. So I'm kinda set on my RTi8's up front. Your thoughts on the DSW600 is something to think about, because the one side of my room is pretty much open to the dining area, so that makes sense. I've been watching the Polk ebay site, and it looks like the sub's go for around $200 or so for the 500 or 600. That's probably a fair price. Thanks for the advice Polkazoid.

Good point. It is very important to live within our budgets and not go into debt, especially in these times.
Some of us tend to go over board with speakers, but we let our ears rule our brains at times.
The RTi8's will definitely work well for your HT.
If you can get a DSW600 for $200 from PolkDirect more power to you.
I'll have to check that out myself.

If he only has upper wall space for rears then another set of 8's would be out of the question. Rti8's as rears are very nice though. If you can swing Fxi5's that be wonderful or en try a pair of Rti6's.
