Got the tubes (Telefunkens) nice and toasty in the Dared MP5 office rig. Alternating between Erin McKeown and Charlotte Martin dl'd in FLAC from the Live Music Archive.
Love these excellent amateur recordings done in small intimate venues. Charlotte Martin is recorded in a church.......just her vocals and piano, with a nice open ambient sound of a cathedral. Very nice, and tubes really bring the expansive soundstage alive.

Tubes add Magic :)
If it died right now smoked to the ground nothing to fix, as I couldn't find it later... I would buy it again it added that Magic to music.

For the novice I can see the appeal of tubes. They have a nice glow, add warmth by heating up the room, other than that...nadda. Unless of course you like the sound of distortion.

to each his own...
If you like the sound of sterile music, good for you
of course I have found that a good solid amp (ss) and a good tube pre mixes very well to give one a great sound
I like to go back and forth between the SS Parasound HCA-3500 nd the Cary V12
I still Love the Cary V12 Friggen Tubey goodness though
Not a lemming, but not a toad either :eek:

Amen to that. I agree!
Forget tubes, we should all go out and buy highly colored vintage amps.

Tubes rule. If I could afford more I would;) Not a fan boy of any sort here. I trust my ears, and not what others say.
Take care.

I love my Carver TFM-45. WHat I find with tubes is flexibility.
I just rolled some Military mullards in after having some Baldwin/Raytheons for a couple of days. There are things I like about both over the other.

A side benifit of tubes are that they may still work after bursting a nuclear bomb high in the atmosphere. Just another of many reasons to use tubes. :)
Oh yeah, tubes rule!
