Hello all...

In my quest to build a good system that incorporates both HT and 2 channel sound (For budget reasons mostly), it was suggested that I get a 2 channel preamp that has HT bypass. In searching other forums, I've found a list of these:

BAT VK3i
Musical Fidelity A5 -
Musical Fidelity A3.5
Musical Fidelity older models as well
Krell 300xi & 400xi (Various Integrated Models)
Plinus 8500 or 9200 - I think have HT Bypass

The ones I've found info on are 1,000 + dollars. I was hoping to find an option for less money. Would anyone share options I may have for good 2 channel listening at a reasonable price (No budget set now, but I'd say in the 300-500 dollar range is about it for now). My current system is below:

HK AVR 354
Polk RTA 11TL's
Polk CS400
Polk Monitor 30's
Def. Tech Prosub 800
Soundcraftsman PCR 800 amp (2x205 watts)

Thanks,

James

Adcom GFP-750 is very popular and said to be a great Pre amp for the money. They can be had for around $700 and has HT bypass.

Jet -

That's a GREAT list, and a nice starting point. Anyone have comments on any that may be able to be had on the cheap (Budget constraints) but be a decent find.

Thanks,

James

Do what I'm doing, running the tube pre thru the HT bypass...........well of course unless you need the HT bypass. :p

The Adcom GFP-750 is a good one, I have a Primare Pre-30,its a lil warmer
sounding that the Adcom pre.

A good pre amp sans the bypass mode should be reasonably transparent enough to allow you to run your front L@R ht outputs into one of the pre's aux inputs without much in the way of signal degradation. Then the pre's volume can then be set to a level predetermined by your calibration so levels will be correct.I do this with mine and it works fine.

The Hafler SE100 and the newer version the 915 are good budget choices if you can find one. They use discrete jfet gain stages instead of cheap IC opamps.
