Saw him live last night in the fifth row. What a show. Outrageously talented guitarist. I've heard much of his live stuff, and definitely was an admirer, but seeing him doing his thing up close just took it to a whole new level. Amazing.

I remember seeing him when he was first starting out with the Allman Brothers several years ago. Fantastic musician, I can only imagine he's gotten even better.

I'm sure ya'll know,, but his uncle is Butch Trucks ,drummer for the Brothers,, he is married to Susan Tedeschi.I saw him with Eric Clapton a few years ago,,he will be in Atlanta on 12/3 and 12/3 at the Variety Playhouse,a very small venue.If you are anywhere near his tour stops,you won't regret seeing him,, he's kinda like the "energizer bunny",, he just keeps playing,and playing and playing--terrific slide guitar--glad you had a good time.:)

Yes, there are more Trucks than Allmans in the Allman Brothers ;) I was hoping Susan would appear with him last night, but apparently she's on tour in Europe right now.

He really is amazing. He busted a string in the middle of one of the tunes, and continued on like it was nothing. He was playing a Strat all night, but his crew ran a Les Paul out to him mid-song, he carried on with that, and then they ran the re-strung Strat out to him all during the same song. If you didn't watch it happen, you would have never known anything was wrong. He didn't miss a beat. Fantastic.

By the way, if you're into the Live Music Archive, there's a ton of great sounding Derek Trucks Band up there. If you're not into the Live Music Archive, then you should be!

Mule is playing NYC on Dec. 30 & 31. Trying to convince the boss to hear some good music on new years eve.

Just about every Grateful Dead show ever is up there. Just about every band that's taper-friendly as well.

One of the things I like most about the Squeezebox is that it hooks directly into the archive, so I can browse/play just like I'm playing my own cd collection. Listening to Trucks 2008-08-17 Burlington, VT as I'm typing this. Smokin'!!

Whats a good Derek Trucks album to start with?

I'm not a big Allman Brothers fan (nothing against them, just haven't gotten into them yet...). Thus my first introduction to him was an feature NPR did on him (and his wife) in Spring 2005. I guess there was a new album out. Yeah, he sounded fantastic in the clips they played and though it perhaps shouldn't manner I was incredibly impressed by how he spoke of music and himself and what he does. One of the most down to earth, genuine musicians I've ever heard. Class act.

He's one of those artists that really shine live. I have "Already Live" and it's very good. But most of the time I just pick a random show off the Live Music Archive, there are so many great ones up there.

Very talented musician and performer, however I just haven't been able to get into his music. I have one of his recent albums and have sampled some of the others. Kind of weird because I like southern style rock in general. Now his wife, I've got every album of hers!

I'm with Doug on this. I've tried listening to a couple albums and just can't get into it but I love S.T.'s work.

Live is definitely where it's at. I'm not all that thrilled with the studio stuff I've heard either. He's a performer, not a recording artist imo.

Love Derick Trucks both his solo stuff and with the ABB, same with Warren Haynes and Government Mule. It's kind of hard to be from the state of GA and not like that stuff. I think it's written in the state charter somewhere....
