Oh, ok. Everyone back to their regularly scheduled programming!

Right this crap has been going on for many years. When I listen to this song I am reminded that there were bad people back in the good old days also.

Simon And Garfunkel
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme
7 O'lock News/silent Night
This is the early evening edition of the news.
The recent fight in the House of Representatives was over the open housing section of the Civil Rights Bill.
Brought traditional enemies together but left the defenders of the measure without the votes of their strongest supporters.
President Johnson originally proposed an outright ban covering discrimination by everyone for every type of housing but it had no chance from the start and everyone in Congress knew it.
A compromise was painfully worked out in the House Judiciary Committee.
In Los Angeles today comedian Lenny Bruce died of what was believed to be an overdose of narcotics.
Bruce was 42 years old.
Dr. Martin Luther King says he does not intend to cancel plans for an open housing march Sunday in the Chicago suburb of Cicero.
Cook County Sheriff Richard Ogleby asked King to call off the march and the police in Cicero said they would ask the National Guard to be called out if it is held.
King, now in Atlanta, Georgia, plans to return to Chicago Tuesday.
In Chicago, Richard Speck, accused murderer of nine student nurses, was brought before a grand jury today for indictment.

The nurses were found stabbed and strangled in their Chicago apartment. [/COLOR]
In Washington the atmosphere was tense today as a special subcommittee of the House Committee on Un-American Activities continued its probe into anti-Viet Nam war protests.
Demonstrators were forcibly evicted from the hearings when they began chanting anti-war slogans.
Former Vice-President Richard Nixon says that unless there is a substantial increase in the present war effort in Viet Nam, the U.S. should look forward to five more years of war.
In a speech before the Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in New York, Nixon also said opposition to the war in this country is the greatest single weapon working against the U.S.
That's the 7 o'clock edition of the news, good night.

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

bikezappa, I am assuming you were trying to post the lyrics to Scarborough Fair by Simon and Garfunkel

Here:

Scarborough Fair/Canticle
P. Simon/A. Garfunkel, 1966

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
(On the side of a hill in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Tracing a sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Without no seams nor needlework
(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)

Tell her to find me an acre of land
(On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Washes the ground with so many tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strand
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather
(War bellows, blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather
(And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of min

Honestly, I still don't know what relevance this had to this thread.

Nope. I happened across the myfoxorlando website and their scrolling blog/text thing had the link to the live scanners for the Orange County sheriff's office. It was both cool to listen to and funny. I gotta say, the cops in the Orlando area rag on each other pretty hard. They might all do that, but it was just funny listening to these guys go back and forth.

Yeah, I did but given his post was literally a copied dump of an entire web page with ads, I took a guess as to what he was talking about. Sorry I'm not a mind reader.

Uummm, 1 dead and at least 5 others wounded in today's shooting. Can we not kick Jstas in the nuts every time he posts? Either you like him or you don't, get over it. Somebody's father/son/husband/brother/friend was shot and killed today because he worked for the company that fired the shooter TWO YEARS AGO. A little perspective and common sense people. There isn't much that fires me up, but come on. Heckle him in private if you have to.

Maybe you could ask what I meant before saying I smoke crack.

In 1966 Richard Speck killed nine nurses. This S&G song refers to this mass murder. I suggest you listen to the song because S&G are trying to show IMHO that nothing really changes much.

The following is the quote in the song that refers to Speck.

"In Chicago, Richard Speck, accused murderer of nine student nurses, was brought before a grand jury today for indictment.
The nurses were found stabbed and strangled in their Chicago apartment."

The song, in case you never heard it, is haunting in that the music from Silent Night plays in the background while we hear with increasing volume the words that I quoted. The song is a social commentary about life and the news reporting. I find many things in that song repeated over and over again today in the news. Same old same old, you could say. The innocent tune Silent Night playing in the background to the horrific nature of the news back in the 60s is very sobering.

Sleep in heavenly peace
