So with my new receiver on the way on Monday, I have been going over the manual and for the life of me can not figure out which settings to use for what. You have Dolby Digital, THX, THX Surround, THX Music DTS, and so on and so on. What settings do I want to use for a movie and concert? I would think the DTS setting would be best for concerts and movies that use that, and star wars would use THX but I am not sure. Can anyone simply break them all down for me?

You use whatever the DVD supports. If it supports more than 1 format use whichever one sounds best for you. For example, a regular DVD might have both Dolby Digital and DTS. I would use DTS because to me it seems to be a bit better. On BluRay use the lossless format if it also supports any lossy formats.

For music you can play with the settings, but direct or stereo is probably best for accuracy.

Ya for music I only use stereo, best IMO but i was just wondering about the THX modes like are they supposed to be better than the Dolby mode? I was reading that the THX fills in missing info but do not know much about it other than that and the fact that the receiver that have that are pretty powerful.

So I take it the rest of the setting are worthless or not worth using?
