I have seen those before. I have no experience with them, however Pioneer should not be overlooked as very nice mid-fi stuff. It certainly has potential I would think.

I have personally seen and heard one of these and I must say I was amazed. The power rating is very conservative. That is a clean looking unit too. After hearing the one I deom'd I wanted one for a long time. You just sparked my interest again. If you plan to bid let me know while I think about this. I won't place a bid on this unit if you have the desire to give it a try. I can tell you this, you shouldn't have any trouble getting your money back from a resale if you for some unknown reason don't like it.

One of the nicer/cleaner units I've seen FS. Do your research and don't pay too much. Try it out. If it starts to approack the $1K mark there are lots and lots of amps that would ultimately sound better. It certainly has a great look, just don't over pay. I've found most of the major compaines like Pioneer, Sansui, Sony, Technics, etc. even in their heydey were mid-fi at best. Most are easily bested by today's gear. Remember transistors were just becoming popular in the 1970's and they had some work to do to get them to sound good.

It appears to be a dual mono design so if you're going to run SDA's with it you need to 1) find out if it is in fact a non-common ground amp 2) find out if you can tie the negative speaker terminals together. 3) If not, then you need to find out if your particular SDA's can utlize the AI-1 interphase cable.

It's just what the ad says, a rare Pioneer pure Class A amp. It was a statement piece and is still their best effort to date.

A truly beautiful piece. Vintage gear can sound great & if the price is right shouldn't be overlooked. It can be a nice addition to one's system.

Very nice looking piece of engineering.I didn't realize Pioneer dabbled in Class A before the days of their quasi Class A sliding bias designs of the early 80's.
