On my quest to purchase a used power amp I will be posting on CP to get recomendations.This ar amp rated at 200 wpc @8 ohms is a dealer listing for$2576.00 tax inc(CND). Anyone know when it was built? The dealer claims $8000.00 retail.

List was $6000.US (1993) so $2576. CND seem alright.

I would want to know what year the one you are looking at was made and what condition is it in. The price seems a little high, but it is coming from a dealer. There is a D400 mkii on Audiogon right now for $1900 USD. which is approx. $2010 CDN. Will he give you like a 30 day warranty. I would negotiate.

Reliability is also important to me as I'm sure to all of us. I had a Bryston 4b sst (20 yr. warranty) but was too harsh/bright for me.

Totally agree with the Bryston assessment. While the great warranty is huge, the brightness was too much for me as well.
So, do you live near Newmarket?

ARC gear is pretty solid. I own the LS25 and VS115.

I've always wanted to own ARC.BTW that's nice tube stuff you have.
