I just picked up these little Altec model 221 computer speakers from Sams Club for work. For $36 total they sound awesome! Who would have ever thought for that price you could get something worth listening to???;)

5 bucks says Madmax will have a tube amp on them in a week.

I won't take that action, I might as well roll the 5er and smoke it.

I'm suprised ole' Chuck hasn't bought that motherboard that has the soundcard with the tube output stage. Figured he'd be the first kid on the block with it.

Cheers,
Russ

Madmax,

Altec makes some great cpu speakers. I have had the altec ACS-45 (3 piece system) for 5 years now. They are still going strong, and I would buy another set if these ever broke down.

All good comments! I hate computer speakers too! And no, I will never own one of those tube type motherboards. I just found this particular 3 piece combo much less annoying than all the others I have heard. Actually, Bose has one out for $99 which I find reasonable but I could never stomach that! I did listen happily all day though!

Me too. Seems like in the world of computers anything bigger than a Kleenex box is a subwoofer.

I use my computer as my TV and screen and DVD player for my home theater. Yes, the Poks are hooked up to it. Its awesome. Unreal Tournament in surround on the Polks through the Onkyo is incredible.

I just realized something. Bose speakers are really computer speakers. It is just a coincidence that some people use them as ht or hs speakers.
