i emaild this guy asking him about his "polk" speakers and this is what he said:
Scott,
The speakers are Polk Audio speakers. They are a model they sold a couple years
back and are manufactured by Polk's main manufacturer, "Forgings
Industrial". The name on the speakers is "JA Audio", however.
Because these are factory direct, they don't say Polk Audio. If I was a
distributor for Polk, I could use their name and put Polk Audio on the
speakers. Polk Audio orders the speakers from Forgings with specifications on
what name to put on them. Of course, they have "Polk Audio" put on
them. Because I am not Polk Audio, I can't legally put their name on these
speakers. Do you see how they are Polk Audio? The name doesn't say it, but
they are in fact Polk. I make a couple trips to Ft. Wayne every month. I
could meet you somewhere there. Let me know.
Take Care,
Chris

Forgings Industrial,
isnt even a company that manufacters speakers, they manufacture some metal stuff.
Polk Audio should do something, i dont want people to get tricked and buy them and listen to them and say that they sound bad and never buy another polk product, and then they will spread the word and you could see polk going out of business.

:D
No but really, that is a load of crap, and someone is bound to be riped off by this guy. Bad news all the way around...
I was sure that Polk did most of their stuff in house, and didnt out source for much. If this is true, than Polk wouldnt have very much to do with the speakers at all... Really doesnt sound right to me. Mike

i ask this guy those can't be polk speakers. and this is what he replied:
Scott
I didn't list these speakers to start an argument. I am simply going by what
Forgings told me. In their brochure, it plainly states that they are a major
supplier for Polk Audio. Forgings is one of the largest audio manufacturers in
the world. I don't think they would lie. If you want them, then great; if not
then I'm not going to hassle you. I will sell you a set for $599.95 if you are
interested ($499.95 if you buy 5 or more to sell). Whether they are Polk or
not, they have the same, almost identical specs as the LSi speakers by Polk.
Name doesn't matter, it's what is behind the name and label that counts. Lets
say they truly aren't Polk, in a way they still are, because the materials and
specs are the same. They sound just as good. I have heard just about
everything, as I am involved in the Audio and Video business, and these sound
superb. You won't find anything like these for under $3,000. I guarantee.
Like I said, if you are still interested, great, let me know. I offer a 100%
satisfaction guarentee.
Take care,
Chris
your guess is a good as mine.

He revised his description today, too. Probably after all the mail from you guys saying that the stuff he's selling has nothing to do with Polk.
"On Apr-13-03 at 01:23:20 PDT, seller added the following information:
NOTE: These are not from Polk directly so they do not say "Polk Audio" on the speakers. They are factory direct, Polk Audio material, from one of the manufacturers that makes Polk speakers. Visit the manufacturer at www.asiansource.com/forgings.co"

F1 - Yea I have went thru that web addy a bunch and did'nt find anything that looked like a Polk speaker. Except for a dipole/bipole speaker that looked a little like the FXi series, but anyways. He's full of shite. Have they responded to you yet? I emailed them and got the automated response, as well as another email for a survey about the help they gave me. I have'nt received a response to my original query, so why the hell would I give them feedback on "How they are doing"??

I agree. This auction is insulting to Polk owners, and new owners.
I saw a speaker on Ebay today called "Fluance", even the name sounds gay. The specs were generic, and the pics were also flattering, but at least they didn't mention an affiliation with a manufacturer. I'll give you a link and guess what they look like........it never ends
