Hi all,

I just wanted to drop a line to say hello. Since i've taken the plunge, and bought a system, i've been reading these forums for ideas and whatnot.

I'm running Monitor 50's for fronts, a cs1 for center, and R-50's for rears. I.m considering a sub, but have had problems with it and static on radio.

Now, i'm already thinking about upgrading and putting these in another room. :)

Yep, that's about how it goes... time to start making room in that wallet for all the lonely lint looking for a home.

Welcome to Club Polk.

Welcome to Club Polk..

What are you considering as the upgrade....and BTW do you mean that the sub is causing radio static? If so how close is it to the receiver? That should not happen.

Well to the club! I'm pretty new here as well. This place is full of good info, but also lots of bad ideas for the wallet. Have fun with it.

Really want to go with a pair of Rti a5's for fronts now. Maybe a csi5 center.
:D

I tried a Velodyne vx-11 sub. Major static issue, and sub was over 6 feet from receiver, around a corner. I researched and found out some D class amps causing issues. I contacted Velodyne, and person said it was a D class amp. I also contacted Energy, and their amp was a class D also. Back went the Velodyne.

I bought a Polk psw 110, and no static issue. It was a class a/b amp, not a class D. But, i could not get it to work right. I had to set crossover on receiver to 200 and 160(or whatever max is on sub), to get it to work half ass decent.(volume set over half way for minimal noise) Back went the Polk.

I have a Yamaha rx-v465 receiver btw.

Anyway, i hear yall about the the upgrade bug. I'm already negotiating with the wife, she gets a new TV, i get new speakers! Its all about bargaining with the little lady! LOL

Welcome, remember that it's far easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, where the wife is concerned!
