Good morning all,

I am a newb to this forum, but have lurked and this is obviously my forst post.

I need some help as I may want to replace my surround speakers. My current setup is:
2--RT 1000
2--FX 500
1--CS400

I just found a deal on a pair of FX 1000 local and cheap...$300....does anyone think it is worth the upgrade from the FX 500? If I were to go this route, would it make sense to fo 7.1 and use the FX 500 as the additional two surrounds and the FX 1000 as the primary surrounds????

Thanks to anyone who may help me,

Dave

I would go for a 7.1 system, if you have the room with the F/X 1000. They are great speakers and would be an upgrade. You would have a really nice HT system.

it is actually a small room.....you don't think the FX 1000 would be overkill ??? Polk recommends the FX 500 with my RT 1000....it is just so tempting to upgrade because I found the FX 1000 for a dirt cheap price...

Overkill? Not unless clearer bass and better imaging due to mirrored drivers on both sides of the speaker are considered overkill. Buy the 1000's and you can probably pass the 500's on to another polkie in the flea market. Be sure to hang around first. They can be pretty grumpy in the flea market to newbies.

OK guys, I want to thank you for all the responses.....

One last question, are the FX 1000 a match to the Rt 1000 and CS 400 as far as tweeters, drivers, and such.....Thanks again !!!!

I just realized what a DUMB ASS I AM !!!! My surrounds are FX 30"s.....

I can get the FX 1000 for $250....I just want to make sure I will hear the upgrade, they are much heavier to hang on the wall...

Well, I got them......2 FX 1000 with all paperwork in mint condition for $250....I will hang them tomorrow night as I will need some new wall anchors...These things are twice the size of my FX 30i......

So, does anyone want to buy my FX 30i's, ?????? They are in mint condition as well...I hope I don't get in trouble for my last remark as I know that I do not have enough posts to officially put them in the for sale section.
