will the Monitors be an upgrade for me?

I'm currently using Klipsch Synergys: a pair of F-1s, SC-1, and SS-1s. They were given to me a while ago, but I've never honestly felt they were all that great. I'm thinking about buying the Monitor 60s, Monitor 30s, and CS2 from Newegg. Would they be much of an upgrade from my Klipsch speakers?

Also, is there much of a difference between the Monitor 60s and 70s? I'm also using a Pioneer 1018ah-k. Is it powerful enough to push these speakers?

Maybe ( I would say so) depends on what you like in a speaker, I can tell you that the Klipsch are a good bit brighter then the polks.

you would be fine using the Klipsch synergys are surrounds don't buy the monitor 30s. The 60s and CS2 are a good bet.

For HT the 60s vs 70s really won't make much of a difference, if its for music I would say got for the 70s.

I would consider the Monitors an upgrade of the Klipsch's, but that is just my $.02. I have the Monitor 70's and IMHO they are about as good as it gets for a HT speaker in their price range. They do surprising well in 2 ch with a good amp and a buffer as I found out last weekend at the Seattle mini meet. The 60's are on sale at Newegg for $119.00 w/free shipping. Promo code EMCYNNP26. Yes the Pioneer 1018 should do a very nice job pushing any Polk M tower! That was very similar to the ENTRY Elite model before they cheaped it out with the new 1019.

I have cs2, 70s front, and m40s for surround with psw 505. Running it with the 1019ah-k and and sounds fantastic for everything I use it for. Especially getting everything above new for less than $1250. You shouldn't have any problems running the monitors from experience. Newegg runs deals on the 70s down to around $175 but back up to $220s now though. Ive heard both the 60s and 70s and agree that there might not be a noticable difference all the time but I love my 70s so far. Could save the extra money and put it toward a good sub. Good luck!

OK, I got it you're responding to the Original Poster..and my remark about the Pioneer AVR....
Nonetheless, if you check the specs you'll see the 1018 has the superior amp section and pre-outs.

BTW...thought your pics of your new system were great!

Oh I agree with you about the amp and pre-outs. I was saying that everything sounded good with what I was running mine with; so using the 1018 should have no trouble at all especially if it is going to be hooked up with an amp. I started off with my tv and then the avr. I wish I had read more about the importance of pre-outs (kinda new to amps and what not) and gone with something a little different. Ill just have to use that avr for my bedroom when I start to build another HT and get a new avr for my main..:D And thanks for the remarks on the pics!

If I had a dollar for everytime I heard that, lol. That's why we "push" AVR's that have pre outs, whether you think you will need them or not, it is always a good option to have. Don't sweat it, you can get any number of AVR's that have pre outs for a good price in the used market.

if I was going to look for a new avr to replace or upgrade...what would be good to run what I have set up right now? wouldn't really be looking to spend more than 700 tops (not sure how much amps are but ideally avr and amp for about that would be great). read some on the onkyo 707 and have seen where, I think its the pioneer elite model 21 (newer version is the model 23) runs less than 500 on the net and have seen the same for the onkyo..or should I be looking for others?? also what amp would you suggest and how much do they usually run?? Thanks!

If you are looking, then you need new, and there is really only 1 brand to get.
The Monitors I have are fantastic.
If I were to buy over again, I would step up to the 70's ( or any other series above the Monitor's )( I do love my Monitor 60's, but the 70's have to have even a bit more wow), keep the CS2 and the 40's ( a bit overkill on surrounds, but what the hey )( 30's would be fine, or wall speakers, another consideration for surrounds ). I would also step up to a sub with a remote. The PSW10 is just fine, but needs adjusting from song to video, or sometimes song to song or video to video, and a remote would be better is all.
Too, depends what you have driving your speakers too, as I went cheap and similar, and got a Sony to match my other stuff ( tv, dvd, vcr and eventual ps3 ). I should have gone Denon all the way. I bi-amped, and am just blown away, but do feel the limitations, and the limitations are entirely my Sony receiver. Still, my Sony does do ok, considering I paid half of what I would have paid for the labeled amperage I was seeking. However, I was advised by these fine people here, that the labeled amperage is a bogus number depending on mfg to mfg to keep like measure, ( you can only compare Sony amperage to other Sony amperage and so on ) which makes complete sense, kind of like tire wear numbers ( treadwear numbers ). Hope this helps, and may you buy any Polk Audio piece, and you will never buy anything else.
