Hey guys. I am going to host a gathering on March 20th. This coincides with the beggining of my racing season. The 12 hour of Sebring will be on, but since I will be DVR'ing it the focus will not be on it, just background.
So hopefully close Polkies can attend and listen to some jams and maybe even root for the Vettes to win in GT-2.
Looking forward to it.
I am located in Carney, MD 21234

mdaudioguy
03-04-2010, 11:50 PM
So what kind of jams would you be kicking out of what kind of gear? Actually my real concern is how amenable are you guys to newcomers? Please tell me there's not some sort of weird initiation... It's possible I could be free to attend that evening.
Vette C6.r
03-05-2010, 11:49 AM
MD Audio. You have more time then I have on the Forum. I am a newcomer myself. I have a working knowledge of the stuff but these guys kill me.
I just attended my first gathering a few mouths ago. It is good to put faces with screen names. There will be some fellow Westminster'ers there.
Stop by.
As far as tunes bring what you like. I'm good with speakers. I would like to demo some other amps though.

well i did to gather a lock of your hair from your bathroom brush.....trouble is as of yet nobody can exactly identify what minerals it contains, one thing for sure, its a bit dangerous to handle.
Afterall, I drove from Ga. to Texas to hang with Bruce and get some speaks he was holding for me. He had an interesting bath as well, come to think of it.
hope everybody making this one has a time of it.

03-18-2010, 01:11 PM
Per our conversation, I'm going to bring my Spectral DMC 10G preamp which I am currently using as a phono pre. It was manufactured when vinyl was king so it only has two inputs. One for phono (MM & MC with many loading options for both) and the other is a aux port which can be used for a digital source.
It was made to mate with a Spectral amplifier but I've had it hooked up to a Parasound amp and a pair of Adcom 565 mono blocks with no synergy issues but this baby is known to picky synergizing with other manufacturers amps but thus far, I haven't had that problem. I currently have it connected to my Tri-Vista 300 with no synergy issues so I would think it would mate well with whatever you have on hand . . . we shall see.

OK I'll start with the picture explanations.
Pic # 1 - Everyone is smiles after Jesse gets done his dance on the red stipper pole. He claimed he hurt his back doing the "no hands" slide down the pole.
Pic # 2 - Marnie was a great host bringing us adult beverages and food. Thanks
Pic # 3 - My brother hooked me up with a perfect speaker night t-shirt that has an actual speaker with an amp and Ipod hook up. Crazy stuff.
Jesse - Thanks for all the help with the system. Helped alot. I'll rip the treble knob off for you. lol
Scott - Thank you for bringing the MIT's and the rest of your gear over. Big difference. Thanks agian for the CD. BTW I still have your plate from the cookies.
Ed - Great to meet you. Thanks for the food. Sorry for possible wife retaliation.
Ben - Great to meet you as well. Nice that you're so close. Hard to believe.
Thanks for joining me guys. I had a great time as well. Hopefully once I get the XO's done and maybe some new gear I would like to do it again soon.

Not one single bit. Glad I went so y'all could prove it to me! I couldn't tell MIT from chicken wire.
Guess what? I found a great CL deal on some brand new little LSi7s today... (couldn't find Totems for anything close to this price) and I'm jammin' on some Dave Matthews right now... Just unplugged my RTis to test them with the Adcom. I'm looking for an amp to run another squeezebox through. Anybody know if I can bypass a pre and connect a squeezebox receiver directly to an amp, or do I need an integrated amp? I'm looking to spend about $300 or so. Ideas?

The Squeezebox Classic can control the level of the signal it outputs, so you can use it hooked up directly to an amp. I've read of a few people who have done this and reported excellent results; my gut tells me it would sound best if, eventually, you got a stand alone pre to attenuate the signal from the Squeezebox.

A day or so late, but.....I also had a great time hanging out Saturday. I wasn't expecting to stay as late as I did after a 15 hour work day, but food, beer and good company can have that result some times.
Thanks again for the hospitality Tony and Marnie.

Way too tired to write a review for the night but it was a great time.
Thanks for all that attended.
A more formal write-up forthcoming.
It's great to see you guys had a great time. I can see exactly why you guys were smiling.
I really would like to know who the lady is holding the sign?
