A few months ago I bought a premo set of 2.3TL's for 500 and sold off my older 2.3's (had the donut drivers like yours in the pic) for 450. They are nice and did you get the interconnect cable with them?

THANKS GUYS !!!! No mention of inter. cable. But heck a few more bucks ain't gonna hurt at this point. Judging from the condition I'm sure they do but he just forgot to mention it.
+ 1 on the masks polksince.
Are the donut driver an improvment on the "regular" drivers ????
You don't see these that often so I am not familar with those drivers.

quoted from his eBay add
"I also have the SDA cable that connects between the speakers"
I'm sure they're gonna sound sweet -- what are you gonna use to push them?

Congrats....those look great :D
I have their twin pair here ( Pic was at the house of the ladies I got them from...they bought em new...played for a few hours...decided they were too big for the room decor...put back in boxes and stored away in a spare bedroom  ...they didnt need the money and they were too big to return ) .
He mentions he has the cable for you in the ebay ad.....mine also came with some special literature stating their design and how they function...if you want copies pm me your address. It goes into detail what driver is working at what frequency and why they designed it that way....really cool stuff.

The donut driver was on the 2.3's (yours) but they did away with it in the 2.3tl's. Polk felt they had too much midrange and added the donut drivers (MW6513). These are just for lower bass.

Congrats! I have the same pair in my basement that my dad bought new in the late 80's and can't wait to make the upgrades.
What are you going to power them with? As you probably already know, they like clean high current power.
Enjoy!

Good eye TNT. I believe they used something called a "typewritter" back then . I had to Google it. Never heard of that technology before.
LOL. I am at a kid at Christmas. I should put my "days till 2.3's" calender up.

Indeed Rabbit.
Are these "donuts" ( there has got to be a better word for them ) passive or active mid-bass drivers ???????

Active drivers, they produce bass from 200hz and lower.

Congratulations, that was a great price on those. I could swear that when I first looked at that listing, he was asking more for them. I can tell you, if you have never had a chance to listen to a pair of these big boys, you are in for a treat! What ever you do, sell blood or a kidney first, before you contemplate selling these. You will only come to regret it if you do.
I should know, as I had owned both SDA-SRS's and SRS-1.2TL's when I was in the Army. Of course, I ended up selling all my gear to my buddies when I became a civilian in '92. Fortunately, I have been able to relive those bygone days of my youth by being able to reacquaint myself with the beloved SDA series. It took me 18 years, but I finally got some back in the house, currently SDA-1's and SRS-3.1TL's.

Mike

Cool story Tower. Always good to hear the stories behind the speakers. They are in the house as we speak. I have to do some re-arranging but they are sounding sweet.
Nice first post.

Congrats Tony!!! I know how you are feeling, When i won my auction for my 1.2tl's I couldn't sleep at all the night before I was going to pick them up!!!
I wanted those speakers since I was 17 years old!!!
Maybe you should order some new Caps & Resistors and while you have Jesse and the rest of us guys at your place we should upgrade those crossovers!
The default Tweeters to upgrade to are the RD0-194's but Jesse may know if they can be upgraded to RD0-198's. I do not know this.
Congrats Again!!!, Very Happy for you!!! They look Awesome!!!!

Hey, thanks for the welcome guys. I've lurked here for years, but could not bring myself to register until I was a bona fide Polkie again. I plan on completing mods on both of my pair in the near future.
