That's also one of my favorites! Rich - I agree that having that to remember your friend by is probably more priceless than any of his audio gear. When you lose a friend like that it takes a long time to get over it, and you really never do. As one of my best friends always says, you shouldn't really get over it, what you consider as normal just changes. BTW, it took a lot for me to delete Normanality's invite to this social group. I stared at it for about 10 min before I could delete it.
I'll have to look at what you built for LP's. Anymore album shopping days like this morning and I'm going to need more Oberweiss dairy crates! The guy I have been buying albums from at the Flea Market in Rockford was waiting for me this morning with some goodies!
Damn gents wish ya'll coulda been here tonight. The mini shootout between the Marsh and the Adcom was interesting when I started out with Van Halen. I wanted to hate the 545 but it was keeping its own. Then I popped in some jazz,Keiko Matsui and Diana Krall. That was when I remembered why the Marsh was superior.
But, you know I thought about ditching my garage gear but after tonight I've found that for the price it's very nice and I wont let it go. Also, the PS Audio Preludes delivered the bass I was lacking from my AQ Type4's so now they are in the 2 ch rig.All else was very similar though.
My Infinity speaks actually had a really good showing. Maybe it was because they were being driven by the Marsh. I do really enjoy the Infinity sound though.
I get pains in my chest just thinking about moving..... Brock, how far away is your move?
Not far Rich, about 3 miles away. The worst part is going thru all crap I've collected over the years. It's a good thing because I can finally get rid of stuff, but it's a pain. It's nice because I can start moving next week and sort of move things as I get them ready. It's better than trying to move in one day.

That was my general feeling at Aaron's. I still think the 545 is the gem of the original line. They are all great amps and then when you consider the cost then and now it's amazing. I will always keep my 545, but it doesn't surprise me one bit that it keeps up 95% of the sound of the larger, more expensive amps. Certainly it's not the be all, end all of amps but the cost of entry is so low and the performance so good.
I have to agree on the Adcom 545, seems to be one of the better in that line. As with most things audio, that next 10% in incremental performance has a price!
Rich - I am assuming we are on for the 14th?
Brock - the truck is available this weekend if you need to use it to move some things. Saturday is pretty open if you want some help moving a few things.

That is correct.

I hear ya. We moved after 22 years in Aurora. We did a preliminary purging and put the house on the market. It sold in the first 4 days and we had to be out in 30, so we had to store the stuf and live with the wifes mother until our new house was built. There was a second purging that reprioritized some saved items from the first purge. One item was a tube tester....thinking what would I ever need this for. I was still mostly a gearhead back then.
There needs to be another purge in this house after only 8 years….
I put the first coat of poly on the two part LP bin I built this morning. Stain hid some of the sins..... but no close up inspections or pictures please. Maybe I should have painted it, but I used Oak for the front/sides. I may put some HD casters on the bottom section.
Doug, do you still have that Polk sub that you were demoing?
Brock, I should be available Sat. if needed. Plus, I have experience in moving furniture.....LOL
Yep, I've still got it. They didn't want it back. Good thing because I really like it. Combined with the EPOS ELS-3's it makes a great system.
Thanks guys for all the offers of help. The move has been put on hold. Sort of a long story, too long to go into here. Nothing major just a change of plans, not my doing. The good news is I will be able to ride down with Doug to see Rich and his gear since I'm not under the gun any more. I am continuing to "purge" and it feels good.
