    Rod, I would go by the clarity of the sound image produced - listen for off sounds. Do this the first time with a completely digital source to eleaviate signal loss and subsequent degradation of signal, then use that as the absolute loudest volume. I have 1985 RTA 12b's and 1989 SDA-SDS1 on a 300 watt/ch Stelar Labs amp (that is a subsidiary of MCM Electronics). Let me know how it goes
