Did I break the BRP???

I have an OPPO BRP-83. It has been working perfectly. Today I hooked up a new cable DVR and put it on the player while making connections and reconfiguring the universal remote.

I popped in Harry Brown on BR and it played the preview...I then skipped past the preview (though it looked good) and the machine would not load the movie...I tried a different BR movie and it would not load....and neither would a standard DVD---it tries and tries and then says unknown disc or no disc....I noticed the bottom of the DVR was quite warm....

did I screw up something in the BRP by placing the DVR on it....?? If so, I am running to the nearest freeway....thx

Thanks...wow....in less than 3 hours, I got a goodresponse back from OPPO with several options....appreciate it....I was looking for a FAQ......

Oppo CS is outstanding.

I followed their (OPPO) suggestions to the "T"...which were a little more involved than the FAQ.

IT DID NOT WORK!!!! G-D it. Hopefully, OPPO will come back with a Plan B.

I would think worst case they should replace it under warranty.

They will most likely take care of it even if it is out of warranty. Keep us posted Neil.

I had some BR players before the OPPO, one well-rated Sony, and had problems with certain DVD's locking them up or giving off weird audio signals...I guess that is what happened here...I read on that FAQ link above how OPPO (and I assume others) work with the disc manufacturers....but, I am surprised the people who distribute movies don't take more care that the technology they are putting out can be handled by the new machines.....
