First time cooking over charcoal in 20 years. Turned out pretty well. Yummy!
Marinated London Broil, and tomorrow the leftovers (if there are any) will be our version of carne asada tacos.
Tried the "ultimate burger blend" from Williams & Sonoma tonight. Pretty tasty, but not as good as from other farms I've tried
USDA Prime New York's on the grill medium rare!
Tonight it will be grilled veggies and a pork tenderloin with simple salt and pepper and rosemary.
we had last years moose steaks. veggies n sides....cooked on the grill with seasonings........moose is much better than the store bought steaks
Burgers, dogs, asparagus, and crabs. :smile:
Yesterday was Chicken boobs, tonight was burgers. No grilling tomorrow supposed to rain, so it will be beef broccoli for us. Think I'm going to stop using charcoal this year and go back to wood. I hate seeing people saying they are having New York strip steaks. After having Ribeye, NY strips are just bland. I know I can pick up the NY for 2.99-3.99 a lb. at the local meat markets, but the 8.99 for the ribeye in a better tasting deal to me. Just my pinion.
Walmart has begun their memorial day charcoal sales. Currently selling 2x15lb packs of kingsford for $5.49.
I picked one up yesterday and may get get some more. This is a SMOKING deal.
Today I'm doing up baby back ribs - rubbed down and ready to go for the low and slow bbq!

Tonight wife wants (steak) filet for her and ribeye for me with a couple skewers of jumbo grilled shrimp...reduced red wine auju sauce with mushrooms and onion for dipping bread, grilled sliced sweet potato and asparagus
Tomorrow dogs, brauts, and burgers...pecan pie
I did brauts yesterday - parboiled in fresh onion, scallions, garlic and beer, then grilled, then back to the bath - served on a toasted hoagie roll with cheese, sauerkraut, spicy mustard, and the strained out garlic/onion/scallions.
Tomorrow, I'm doing teriyaki marinated chicken and some home grown potatoes I'm going to pan fry as seasones wedges.

Started smoking a 14 lb. brisket at 4:00am this morning. Ready for serving at 4:00pm this afternoon. Everybody raved about it. Got a pretty nice smoke ring working there. Baked beans and macaroni salad on the side. Man food! We'll get back to vegetables and salads tomorrow! lol
Man, ate like a pig last night at my in-laws. 2 grills going, and with 100 degree heat standing over a grill wasn't my idea of fun. Margarita's helped alot.:cheesygrin:
Grilled Italian sausage, BBQ chicken, Arachetta's with some home made guac and Pico, a spicey seafood pasta with clams/shrimp/calamari, 2 different salads, oh....and grilled Salmon too with an apple crumb cake bringing up the rear.
We get home from eating like pigs, tired from the heat, the wife says "I'm hungry". WTF ?? "Didn't you eat anything at your parents ?" All she had was salad, and I'm thinking to myself with all that good food, you didn't eat ?
So off to Taco Bell she goes. This my friends, is what keeps those weight loss joints in buisness. I just nod my head, with the fear of saying anything more would mean I'd have to deal with my wife.....and I make it a point to never deal with my wife.:cheesygrin:
Last night we did up some steaks and shrimp, today will be just hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixings of course..
Went to my butcher the other day and picked up a 4 1/2 lb "point" brisket.
So, it'll be a long lazy day on the back patio with some cold ones and one eye on the bbq! :cheesygrin:
Choice New Yorks, grilled corn (drizzled w/ butter and garlic salt - no foil - open on the grill), fresh garden salad (ALL home grown), fresh SF sourdough bread, and a nice red wine!!
Did the Work Team thing last night. Lobster, Beef Tenderloin, Corn and many different home made salads. Good time had by all.
Big fat burgers - fresh ground round with some 'secret' seasonings, fries, grilled corn on the cob, and some baked beans....maybe a spicy Calif. Zin to wash it down! :biggrin:

Did simple hot dogs today, amazing how a little char makes the come alive. Way better than the micro or even boiling.

And I bought myself one of those Amazin Smokers and pellets.
After about 3 hrs in the grill at precisely 230F, I foiled up the brisket and put it in my oven to push it past 'the stall' at 150F - but I don't think I wrapped it tight enough, cuz it was another 3hrs before it finally got up to the recommended 200F.
Still - for my first brisket it turned out pretty darn tasty - good smoke flavor and color, not tough, juicy (did inject it with beef broth per the recommendations).
Definitely doing brisket again...took some notes and will learn from last one.
