google "how to adjust amplifier gain"
Turn ALL bass down.... aall the way down. On receiver and amplifier. Turn gain down too. Put in a CD, crank it up to where you listen to it as maxed. Then turn up the bass level on the amp and then increase the gain. Once this is done, you can tweak the bass level on the head unit. This gives you the headroom to adjust bass when driving and not always tinkering with your gain. May need to turn the bass level up a click or two on the head unit when doing this, but typically, you want the head unit to be turned down when adjusting the amp, then come back to the head unit for final adjustments.
