Polk LSiM 703 Mohagany

I just got a pair of these bookshelf speakers. After some break in these speakers are really sounding good. I think they are a very musical speaker. They are not fatiging and are well balanced.

I ordered these in midnight mohagany and to my surprise. when I opened the box, they looked like black painted speakers. I thought I had been sent the wrong speakers. Upon very close examination I could make out the mahogany woodgrain. At first, I didn't like the finish but after awhile it started to grow on me. Very subtle color which is pretty cool. Very different from other wood grain veneer I have seen.

Very nice. I have a pair, and I think they represent an excellent value for a truly hifi speaker.

They'll do better farther apart and with some toe-in. Get some good stands, move them off that desk, and toe them in a good amount. In the meantime, move them to the far edges of the desk and toe them in just a tad.

Now before following Falconcry72's most excellent advice, I suggest that you let the 703's repose where there are for a while.

Looking at your posted pictures seems to show that if they could, the 703's would be smiling at the company they're keeping. Let 'em enjoy that a little bit longer.
And that Mac 4100 is most certainly happy with its new neighbors.

It looks amazing and I bet it sounds just as sweet!

Thanks for all of the good advice and you are right.

This is not my main system. I have many others around the house. My wife and I
like them where they are. I did notice while listening that they are too high. I suggested that I could move them to another room where I do have stands at the proper height and my wife said no.
You see, this is a system used by the wife. She often stands while listening to music. Maybe,
I coud put some stands in the Dining room, but they will take up more space. We'll see.

I had some nice cherry wood wharfdale speakers there before and I thought my wife would be
mad that I put the bigger Polk speakers in there. She came into the room and took one listen and
said those speakers are staying put.

I do have them bi-wired for whatever that is worth. I also prefer them with the grill covers on.
Usually, I prefer speakers with the grill covers off. The LSiM are a little smoother sounding with the grills on.

The living room isn't quite up to the standards of the dining room

I've been interested in Polk for a couple of decades. I really wanted a pair of the early Polk speakers. I forget the model, they had something like 4 tweeters in each speaker.

I am really pleased with the 703s.
