New source for speaker grill cloth

I am re-covering the grills on my new to me 1.2TL's, and was not thrilled with the choices out there. I contacted the good folks at Magnepan and asked them if I could purchase the cloth used for the front covers of the MG20.7's and they were more than happy to do so.

This new cloth is very high quality and very transparent. It is about 1/3rd of the thickness of the stock cloth, and is much better looking. If you are thinking of changing grill cloth, this is a great alternative. Runs about 20 bucks a yard and with 6 yards needed for the big SDA's, it's not cheap, but well worth it in the end.

I am also considering replacing the grill cloth. I'm am not the diffraction guru here, but I wonder if it wouldn't be smart to round-over the frame inner-outside edges of the grill before attaching the new cloth. Has anyone thought of or tried this? Am I all wet? Reagan

Wish I could post som pics to show you guys how nice this stuff is. I have the first speaker covered and the look is awesome. The new cloth gives just a peak onf the drivers beneath and does not interfere with the sound coming through. I found there to be no difference with the grill on or off. I sent pics to a couple guys and hopefully they can share them soon...

Not a guru or iphone guy but I'd email it to myself, save to desktop and attach from there...

I will be posting some John sent to me shortly (on my iphone muself right now) I uploaded em to my photo bucket.

I can tell you that they look awesome.

I think John is without Internet at home right now while he is working on fixing up the house and normally goes to the local library so saving to the desktop won't work for him.

Could probably get away with 5 yrds for the 3/1TL's. But damn... $100 in cloth. Does look real nice though.

Thank you John for the share. I do like the look, and the sides of my 2.3TL's could use the help. I will have to redo them. Anyone know how many yards would be required for the 2.3TL's?

It maybe the pics, but the cloth looks like foam, or like it has some foam in it.
