Help with AVR for RTiA7s or 9s

I'm looking to upgrade my RTiA3s with RTiA7s or 9s and will be replacing my low-end Pioneer. The home theater will be in a 15x17 foot room, hardwood but with a large wool rug. The entertainment center is centered on one 17 foot wall with doors on either side of it. The wall opposite the HT is mostly open to the kitchen--so the room is fairly open.

What AVR will be a good fit with my set-up? Will be used for movies and music--Radiohead, Massive Attack, base-heavy, mid to low tempo electronica/soundscapes and occasionally rock.

Willing to spend $500-$800 or so.

Also will be using CSiA4 and F/Xi4.

IMO look for a used SC series Pioneeer Elite and budget for an amp down the road...

You will definitely need an amp down the road so make sure whatever abroad you get has preouts

Honestly your better off getting a better sub and keep the a3's. No AVR in your price range will really properly power those a7s and definitely not the a9's. Those speakers have some big drivers that are gonna suck power.

Look for an older SC-07 or 37, should be close to your price range. Either will drive the A7's without issue. The A9's would require a separate amp.

Thank you all for your advice. I do think the A7s will be plenty for me.

Can anyone recommend an amp for just the A7s?

I use a Parasound HCA1500a with mine. Sounds good and can be had used pretty reasonable. The Halo series are even better.

I highly recommend the SC series for the A9's. I don't have an amp yet and I love how mine sounds.

+1 I run my Rti12's off an SC-35 and love the sound, still plenty of bass out of them. I cross them over at 80hz and they've never sounded underpowered, however I know a nice beefy amp would bring a lot more out of them. I'm just think you should buy the ones you want.
