Resistors for Attenuator

I'm tired of the uneven tracking of my ALPS blue pot, so what resistors do you prefer for your attenuation? Any preference between traditional through-hole style and SMD? Dale vs Vishay?

I think I'll pick up one of these as it looks like a well built, ladder design attenuator that uses KOA resistors. The value I want would need to be custom made, but the only thing it would cost me is extra time.
