Hi guys! im up grading system and in the market for a new reciever to go with :rti-a7s mains, csi-a6 center and
rti-a1 in the back for a 5.1 set up! Now ive owned a yamaha rx-v750 for 8-9 years now and is still running strong!!
But its dated and looking more of the clairity the new recievers have nowa days! So.... the advantage or the elite? Oh and it's 80 music and 20 movie. thanks in advance.
AVENTAGE has my vote. But Pioneer is a nice unit as well. Probably come down to price really.
I'd highly recommend you demo them if you have anywhere around you. I like the SC Pioneer a lot (obviously) especially for HT use since it's so dynamic and has a huge soundstage. However the Aventage series very detailed and imho slightly more musical. I think its a toss up as they're both powerful and built like tanks with a ton of features, really comes down to which sound you prefer.
I've heard and read great reviews of the SC series but I love my Yammie and wouldn't have it any other way. My vote goes for the
Aventage.
Both companies make fantastic products. You can't go wrong either way. If your extremely happy with the Yamaha sound then stick with them . If your looking for something IMO that sounds warmer and a bit quieter between notes , then strongly consider the SC models from Elite.

Thanks guys thanks for the replies!! Was going to go to the local hifi shop and have a listen to the pioneer as I haven't heard one in
years! But spent the better part of the day battling the snow!! Lol!! Blowing out driveways!! And have to work all weekend!! Should get out on tues though!! I'm and leaning towards the yammie though!! I will keep yous posted!!
Have to go with the Yammie here. Mine's a killer for HT & Music.
Ya I'm really thinking yammie! And not sure I want to go through the learning curve with the elite! And I am please with the sound out
of the 750 now! But really want more SQ!!

Man, you're memories slipping. Don't be too concerned it happens to all of us. The one snipet of info you left out was how incredible sounding the music was when Dan played back hi-rez songs from his Mac laptop. I know you don't like to discuss that venue but it's the future, no CD or SACD player will be able to compete. And yes, Dan did tweak the speakers about 1" (if that) the difference was subtle but still audible. My system sounds awesome no matter where I sit in the room. I don't have to lock my head in a vise in the so called sweet spot to enjoy my music. Any you are still dead wrong stating that "ALL" AVR's are lacking when it comes to music. Maybe a statement along the lines of "SOME" AVR's are lacking when it comes to music. Also include the statement that "SOME" separates are lacking when it comes to music. Please spare me the rhetoric about separates being the "holy grail". Total BS.
I have owned and installed so many Pioneers (Elite, VSX and SC) its crazy. The 2012 models had a few issues but it wasn't anything a firmware update could not fix.
Yamaha makes a solid unit as well, but for me if it came down to the two units I would pick the Pioneer.
The Pioneers sound great, have way to many options and have loads of power. The Ipad app is fun to use too.
The SC series are my favorite.
My vote is for the Pioneer.

FYI. If you haven't made up your mind on which AVR is for you.... I've been interested in the SC-63 as well and found this out: The SC-61 is the same AVR, except for Pioneer's Advanced PC Setup, where you can hook up your pc to help with initial set up. I feel I can easliy do without that, so think I'll save the $75 - $200 and go with the SC-61. Read more here for the comparison:

Hey all!! Yes there is a new advantage in the house 1020!! Weeeee have it all set up and doing lots of ajustments sooooo many!! Had to run the YPAO twice, first time I forgot to set volume on the sub at half! And got nothing out of the sub! But works great now!! The
RX-A1020 REALY clean up the bass! I did a lot of setting changes! the YPAO set all speakers to large, so set them to small and the
Cross over was at 60hrz, I set it too 80hrz and now it sounds nice and clear!! So thanks guys for all ur imput!! REALY helped!!

Enjoy! Looks like a nice unit, it even has multichannel inputs! Don't see that hardly at all anymore. Something I have to consider whenever my 13 year old Oinker blows up...
I did notice the multi channel input but not sure what it would be used for?
Some older quality CD/BD players had multi channel analog out & did not have HDMI. Getting to be a moot point now a days because pretty much evertything is HDMI.Quote:
