I blame it on the dog...
OK OK...fine. So it wasn't the dog's fault.
Anyway, my FX1000s showed up today to take the place of my Monitor30s. I had a bunch of long jumpers laying around and suddenly a thought struck me...aren't those 30s the same depth as my CS1? Why yes they are...
And wiring them in series will not effect the load on the amp...
After all was said and done, the wife just rolled her eyes and said, "You're gonna blame that on the dog aren't you?"
I give you Megamus Monitorus Centerificus!

Not sure why the angle looks off on everything...of course, there has been beer tonight so that may explain it.
It was a joke at first but I gotta admit after tweaking settings a hair, it sounds pretty darned good. And it's the closest I have gotten across the front to an identical match with the SPL meter.
Now to duct tape 4 Monitor70s per side together...

That's pretty funny, see how it sounds tomorrow without the beer. You gotta love the duct tape, you can fix anything with that stuff.

Looks cool no matter how is sounds!

Leave the grills off my brother, that is an awesome sight to behold, maybe run some electrical tape over the seams to create the visual illusion of one single speaker.

Probably getting some bad comb filtering, but it does look pretty cool!

Actually, the end result was far better than I could hope for. I did some A-B listening this weekend after spending time with the SPL meter and with it set up like this, the center is more filled out. With just the CS1, there is a barely audible gap between the left, center, right transition but adding the M30s in to the mix makes that gap go away.
It also pulls the dialogue to the center of the screen more than without. Listening to the same conversation A/B shifts the sound up about 10-12 inches and makes it more centered on the screen.
A lot of the A/B comparisons were opinions asked of my wife who made comments like, "The sound is coming from their mouths not the bottom of the screen."
As for the comb filtering, I am sure you are correct. And I "moved" the center settings a foot farther away which seems to compensate well for any perceived delay.

Exceptional looking center!!!
