Maybe they just give up after they break all their stuff.

See excellent example below!
"...I also have 5 kids and a wife. When I we had just one little one, I was on here all the time, and it slightly tapered off and leveled off after the third. Loss of high speed internet made it a little harder to keep up. Then hard times hit and I was gone for almost a year. It's like anything else in life it all comes and goes, and runs through phases."
I know, Cathy, I know. Can't I rub you a little bit? Come on now.....just a little bit?
There are obviously things that take precedence over audio but the folks that hang here long term, I would think, take audio seriously. Those that have moved on from this forum have either hit a plateau they are happy with and feel they no longer need this forum, found other forums that peak their interest a bit more than this forum, got tired of wasting their time answering the same questions and/or reading the same old arguments that present themselves on a clock-work type basis, given up on audio altogether or found another hobby. Of course, these are just examples of why folks move on but I think most here would get the gist.
Please tell me that you at the very least that you got the slightest of chuckles off my post, Cathy. It was intended as somewhat of a joke. *winks*
Tom
i have moved on a little bit but that is just because of my car. So yes another hobby, but I still like hanging out here.

 Yes Tom I LOL when I saw the pic, I remember seeing the show with him saying it.
It's hard over an internet board to really tell when people are serious or not about this issue, and I have lost count of the number of people who have gone ass over teakettle upgrading up the wazoo, and then either come on saying they lost their job and need to have a fire sale or just had an unexpected emergency and needed to sell their gear. Or even worse complain about being in dire straits then talk about how they bought a new piece of gear????
To me that just speaks of a reckless carelessness & disregard, of priorities. If you are living that close to the edge that you have to have to have a fire sale of gear you just bought then there is something wrong if you can't see that having an emergency fund is a lot more important then having more gear to play with.
I understand the upgrade/new gear bug as much as the rest of you. However, I fortunately also have a stronger self preservation/survival instinct then some others on here that will kick me in the ass before I get carried away. It served me in good stead when I got laid off in 2010.
There were several goodies that I wanted to get my hands on, but I am only now getting around to getting them since I have refilled my depleted coffers from my layoff. Cobra insurance costs a hell of a lot, you don't realize just how much a company picks up until they no longer do!
Sorry Tom, I just have seen too many fire sales on here that is disturbing to me. I take audio seriously as well, which is why I stick around to help newbies when I can, but I never lose sight of the fact that there are a lot more important issues that take precedence over this hobby.
I think that some just grow weary of trying to wade through the oppressive New Jersey smug, PFB.
Who really knows. I really like reading posts here. Good to see Ricardo posting... I have probably gotten more help here than I have given, but I have helped some. Sharing space with a wife and 2 small children I can't be here too long or somthing like this happens:eek:
Exit 195...From ages 5-14 it was exit 60. My wife has an Aunt over in your neck of the woods, A good chunk of her family is over in the Novi/livonia area. I have some family in Hazel Park and Warren, but really don't associate with them anymore. Got tired of the drama, and not being good enough for there gang banger mentality. Sorry, I just don't see the point of living the thug life, it's not for me.
Google satellite pics over George Grands house reveals various areas of fresh dug dirt. Where have all the Polkies gone you ask ? Hmmm.....
Everything is absolutely fine. Life and works have taken a toll on audio time. But I still enjoy music when I have a chance.
Sooo many new people around here.....
Nice to see you Ron.
Hola George.
Yeah, It's been a while...
I, like others have said, come here every day to see what's up but might not post. Either I have nothing to say, don't wish to get in some kind of cable/amp debate. I also have a 6 week old daughter and a 20 mth old son. I don't have the time to play around with my system. For right now my priorities are where they should be, my family as is all my extra cash. I am happy with my current set up, so I'm not really looking to upgrade or tweak.Once we are accustomed to the new routines with our kids, I would have more free time. Just wait till tax refund time arrives there will be more posts( not from me but in general, just like after xmas)
I find it fascinating, when checking old threads to see members with thousands of posts, and they are never around, would not know they were ever around.
Kinda like riding around your childhood neighborhood.
I dont post as much anymore, mostly because of time required here at home for loved ones, partly because i have learned from you guys what i need to know.
I dont see myself ever stopping checking in because of the people i have come to know.
Tom, no you cant rub cathy, not even a little bit.
You would know if she wanted you to rub her!
Perhaps at least one of them finally figured out where to find that ever elusive black paint.Quote:
