Shop system pics?

I was really shocked by this little sytem I put together.

HK300 AVR (July 1997).
Adcom CDP with Furutech copper male plug (AC plug).
Klipsch KG 1.5's hanging from the ceiling upside down (factory anchors mind you:cheesygrin:).
My digital cable (Neotech pure silver solid core/teflon, LOK silver rca plurs).
Nordost flatline speaker cable.

I had this system in my kitchen originally, and moved it to my indoor shop area today, holy crap!
Sounds totally different!

17' x 12W room.

What a remarkable AVR!

Not the best at all, but awesome considering!
It was 4 years old when I bought it.
Now its "Sweet 16"!:eek:

The CDP is sitting on Racquetballs, cut in half!:redface:

Sometimes, redneck works (notice there is no shelf under the CDP)!:smile:

What is the model number of the Neotech wire you used for the digital cable Paul?

Scroll down to to 24 ga. solid core silver/teflon.

Shield it with some excellent rca plugs, TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!!!!.:cheesygrin:

I had the same Harmon Kardon but sold it off. Still miss it. That model actually came out around 2001.

You can see it has DTS 5.1 and DD 5.1 plus a dvd input which all wasn't available in 1997.

Yeah thinking back mine said August 2000, so +/- 1 off by one year.

I knew it wasn't 97 though. Way too many premium features for a 1997 receiver back then. I only know cause I sold this receiver back in my retail sales days.

What speaker wire are you using? Looks to be flat, possibly ribbon cable, or copper foil?

Yamaha CDC-500 (IIRC) CD changer (dump find)
Sony dual well cassette deck of some type (from my father's 'estate')
Sansui TU-717 tuner (came bundled with my long-gone Klipsch Cornwalls, long ago)
Sherwood S-5500II 7591pp stereo integrated amp (nice amp)
Sony TC-353D reel to reel (eBay, reliving my first-ever reel to reel deck)

Speakers (not really visible) are a very nice pair of Allison Ones (also from my favorite local emporium)


... and keen eyes may spot that the system, when this lousy photo was taken, was Warren Zevon's great live album Stand in the Fire, originally released ca. 1980.

I have an Onkyo AVR from that era that I feel the same about. It's in a box in the basement awaiting my shop system build.

I thought about doing that a bunch. Might buy some for my cdp that just came in. It probably wont work as well as Sorbathane, but its a heck of a lot cheaper.....

Or steal some of my Dad's :biggrin:....
