I have heard good things about Armaflex. However, has anyone else tried to remove the tape? I installed some Armaflex TAP18230 insulation tape for my tweeters on my 1.2TL's. When installing Larry rings I had to remove the Armacell to drill the holes. It was very difficult to tear off without destroying the MDF below. This makes me very hesitant to continue installing Armaflex. Any input?
Rather than putting the tape directly on the speaker cabinet, you should be putting the tape on the back side of the drivers, around the outer rim. This way you aren't needing to remove anything from the MDF cabinet. That should allow you to have the benefit you are looking for without the issues you are encountering.

Agreed with the rest. The adhesive side goes to the driver. It should be easily removed with just a bit of goo be gone and an exact knife if you did it the other way around. Just take your time with it.
As other have said, apply the gasket material to the driver from now on. I've been guilty of doing the same thing. Judicious use of a hair dryer helped soften the adhesive, and made removal from the particle board easier. Unfortunately, some of the adhesive will still remain on the particle board. Acetone or nail polish remover will get most of it off, just be careful not to get any on the black textured vinyl Polk used on the front baffle.Quote:
