Buying on Audiogon
I've purchased and sold a few things on Audiogon before, but haven't had this experience yet.
A few days ago I submitted an offer to a seller, and a day later they accepted it. I got the confirmation email, then the "Wait for Seller" email. I then popped on Audiogon and sent them a message saying I can pay as soon as they let me know. That was two days ago and I haven't heard anything since. This seems odd, but maybe someone else has had this experience? I've seen this as they seller of course, but most buyers want money ASAP.
Thanks for any thoughts.
Could be that this seller is not in any particular hurry - that's possible.
Or, could be the seller is sick, had an emergency, is on travel, any number of possible explanations.
You may just have to endure another day or so of waiting.
Inconvenient for you as the buyer - for sure - esp if you are eager for the purchase, or you have other offers you want to jump on in case this one falls thru.
My most annoying transaction came when I was the seller of some cables - transaction was smooth, I put the cables in the mail, sent the tracking information on the day they shipped -which was a Friday.
I went about my leisurely weekend only to come back Monday morning with a barrage of emails from the buyer asking for status every couple of hours as to where his package was...the last threatening to report me to audiogon as a fraudulent seller!
Then the cables showed up on Tuesday.....geez....
True enough, which is why I've haven't sent the seller any other messages.
I just bought an item off Agon for the first time since the... ahem... "upgrade". I gotta say though it went pretty smooth and I like that feature they have where you can message back and forth in the item listing after the sale. From making offer to item shipped was 12 hours 8 minutes... nice!
Finally connected with the seller, and he was just selling some extra equipment and not in a hurry; no harm no foul. Everything is squared away and I've been happy with the experience, so hopefully should be getting package in the mail next week!
I guess I just need to remember that for better or worse, Audiogon is not CP or ebay...
Glad to hear all is square....soooo.....what did you get????

Generally I think most people should just get a tube preamp if they want to add tubes to their system. But I think there are a few good applications for tube buffers, and I will be trying this between my passive preamp and my powered speakers to address an impedance mismatch. I'll be swapping this buffer and my NP B1 buffer back and forth in front of the speakers and see which one sounds better; helps the most.
I'll be trying the buffer with the stock pair of Russian 6N8P, then swap in a pair of 1955 Raytheon 6SN7GTB. It's a buffer so it probably won't make a difference, but as we all know, everything matters...
I have a Musical Fidelity x10v3 tube buffer connected between a Sonos Connect and my Tri-Vista 300. It improved the sound of the Sonos Connect.
I just bought something Audiogon for the first time. Went fairly smooth and now awaiting the stuff.
