TLW, missed you too.
TLW, missed you too.
Still no pics!?!? Glag you guys/gals had a good time.
Pics will get posted in due course....jeeze.
Yes I am sad I missed the last fest at Troy's. Circumstances did not let me come to the last 2 fests and I hate myself for it. Next year for sure.
It's a fact: people love inanimate objects. They love their cars; wouldn't drive anything but this one. They love their cell phones; wouldn't use any one but this one. They love the pots and pans in their kitchen; these are the only ones for me. And they love their audio equipment.
And while usually it's a messy thing to actually see people loving their inanimate objects, it was a total joy to see people loving their audio equipment at Troy's Polk Fest 2013 this weekend. What an amazing thing. This is the kind of dedication any brand -- whether it's a car brand, a phone brand, a cookware brand... or an audio equipment brand -- would kill to be the recipient of. It's brand loyalty to the nth degree.
It was super great and an honor to be there. It was fun to see some Polk people again, Tom and Trey, I think I met Travis, disneyjoe7 & his girlfriend we met, and if the guy who came from NJ in the pickup truck (Lou? I told you everyone should wear name tags!) forgives me for not finding him to say goodbye and thanks before we left, I'll be fine in the afterlife. Even some of Troy's local friends showed up to suck down some of the great food (fried chicken, pulled pork, fresh berled peanuts!) from Troy's new restaurant. It was great to meet Ted the Electrician. Oh, how right he was!
To everyone we met but whose name escapes me now... Thank you! It was great meeting you!
Troy and Wendi are the best people ever. They are happy, outgoing, funny, smart and down-to-earth. Opening their home to a bunch of weirdos who's idea of fun is sitting in a dark room focused intently on Sheffield drum tracks is more than admirable. (It's downright angelic.)
Whatever Polk Audio is now, has become or will become, what counts to these guys (and to their friends and families) is what it has achieved. Polk Audio products bring joy by doing just what they said they'd do: produce realistic sound at a great value. It's obvious in the nodding heads and serene smiles of the guys crammed into Troy's back bedroom listening to the bold, beautiful cherry-wood LSiM703s. (Gonna have to get me a pair of these!) This is what brand loyalty sounds like! Take notice!
Thanks, Troy & Wendi! It was GREAT!
MICAH & MELISSA
PS -- My biggest disappointment of the day was not getting to finally meet George Grand. Anyway, George, you old so-and-so, I sent you a gift via Troy that I hope you enjoy.
Oh, man....what a treat. Micah and Melissa, we were HONORED to have you.
Without Micah, there would be no Polkfest and this brand loyalty that he speaks of, really, he put it on wheels. No sh*t. Micah is the one who is really responsible for taking that brand loyalty and using it. The forum? The Speaker Specialist (I MISS that thing), Polkfest.....he was (and still is to the extent that he can) OUR advocate. Our guy on the inside. He deserves a lot of credit.
Anywho, Micah coming by was a real treat and Melissa is really fantastic.
Agreed. LSiM's are on my short list. I need a pair. LOVE the 703's. They were awesome. Want a pair. More importantly, TLW like them too. Damn, I missed out on the sale...how did I miss that??
I know, I was just busting your nads as well....I just missed the smiley thing :)
Stay tuned.... Home finally from Myrtle Beach and after we get our daughter to bed, I'll download the pics and post the few that are suitable for family enjoyment...
We want the unsuitable ones...
All right here they are.....
I did a quick rename of the pics to identify who's in each- please forgive me if I got the screen names or actual names wrong. Also forgot if the dog was weezy or wheezy...sorry.

Just to give you a heads up Troy......
On the way out of Myrtle Beach today we stopped at Sparky's roadside attraction (tourist trap sells everything) and upon leaving there was this guy looking in the back of my car at the speakers. He happened to be parked beside me in a you guessed it... a Boxer. He goes on to tell me he is a big fan of Polk Audio and noticed the 703's and proceeded to bloviate about how he was a member of this online polk audio forum and the members give him a hard time. He's pissed that for the last month no one has believed his story about buying his 1st car unseen off of ebay. After nudging me in the side with his elbow and a huge grin on his face lets me know that the joke will be on them.....
He decided to paint the car his favorite shade of yellow and drive down for this big annual gathering at a forum member's home down in Charleston next weekend. Apparently PFB and the wife are staying in Myrtle Beach this week and will be driving down to some restaurant in North Charleston next Friday at 7 to surprise everyone and get the last laugh.
Oh well that's just PFB for you- A week late and a few dollars short............
Just joking everyone.............No animals were harmed as a result of this fabricated story. Kidding you PFB.
Thanks for the pics, good to see old friends.
Travis, one correction. That is not Lasareth, it's Lou aka Oskigod.
Oh and Micah is aka The Hobbit Pimp, aka Socks.
Loved the PFB story :)
Thanks for the pics Travis!
It's about time we get a picture of PFB's Boxter!
Sorry Lou. We met in the restaurant with a crowd and I had a hard time hearing so I never asked to verify after I knew your actual name was Lou. Apologies to Laserath and Lou.
Tried to find a black boxer, but the only one I saw was going the other way too quick to grab the camera.
Damn, I didn't even get Lou's name right, it's ohskigod.
Looks like an excellent Polkfest, very sorry to have missed it.
Thanks for pics travis, always great to see, that pic of you and troy, happy and sad is hilarious.
You and deb are a lovely lovely couple, couple of what i dont know, joking, im just joking, shes beautiful, you are servicable.
Seriously, glad you all had a great time.
BTW, how did you guys like the quads, heck tell us your impresions of all the speaks.
UGH, wish I didn't miss this. Unfortunately I had to use up a bit of my time off from work for some illness and surgery over the summer. All is better now and i'm back to the gym to whip this body back into shape, hopefully for PF 2014.
Sounds like it was the classic Fest that's always held at TLW Estates!
