Hello to anyone who remains... I'm sorry to keeping y'all in suspense on my latest craigslist score... I've been enjoying the company of my friend and downstairs neighbor, and SEVERAL beers (and of course great music!!)...
Here they are:
A pair of Boston Acoustics tower speakers with built in powered subs, model no. VR965. I almost purchased a pair of these in the year 2000. I auditioned these and the Definitive Technology BP-10B bipolar towers, both at the same dealer and at the same price. I liked them both a lot, but at the time I was more into the HT scene than 2 channel stereo, so I purchased the DT's for a couple of reasons: I already had an excellent subwoofer, so I did not need towers with built in powered subs, and I didn't want to have to deal with having to have an ac outlet nearby to plug each speaker into... The DT's also have brighter sounding tweeter, which is better suited to an HT setup, where the Boston Acoustics have the very well regarded Linnfield tweeters, and are much better for a music only setup such as I am running these days...
They are in very good condition (I'd say solid 7-8 on the audiogon scale), with only one minor issue that I'll soon repair: one of the binding posts on one of the speakers is broken, though I have rigged it to get a solid connection for now... Electronically, they appear to be in perfect operating condition...
These are not going anywhere, I did not purchase them to re-sell, they were for me... But, in the deal for these I got the matching VR920 MONSTER 3 -way center speaker, and that will be in the garage sale section tomorrow... Stay tuned....
Here are a few pics... Sorry they are not that great, I've had several beers, better photos coming later (or tomorrow)...
Oh yeah, I can't say what I paid for them... Let me just is: I basically stole 'em...
Nice grab Rick. Congrats !!!
Pink Floyd: The Final Cut.
Diana Krall's recordings are used by me MANY times when auditioning new gear, and this time is no exception... These are great speakers for music, as they are very detailed/dynamic/clean/clear/punchy/musical sounding... I'm very pleased, as I knew I would be... When I saw them this morning, I couldn't contact the owner and head out for the road trip fast enough...
Pink Floyd: The Wall.
Golden Earring: Switch.
Alice Cooper: Love It To Death.
